Job Description - Residential and Home and Community Services, Non-Direct Care Service
Title: Human Resources Director
Responsible to: President/CEO
General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Director is responsible for employee benefits and personnel records, with working knowledge of open enrollment, unemployment claims and appeals, workers' compensation, and employee claims. The role also requires payroll fluency, serving as backup when needed.
The ideal candidate is highly efficient, personable, and skilled at working across different personalities and communication styles. They exercise sound judgment across a range of situations, bring strong written and verbal communication skills, and stay organized while balancing multiple priorities at once. They're comfortable taking a project from concept to completion independently, can perform under pressure, and handle confidential matters with discretion. Above all, they're creative and genuinely thrive in a faith-based nonprofit environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community-oriented.

• Serve as the bridge between management and staff, addressing concerns, grievances, and workplace issues with care.
• Oversee performance appraisal systems that support high performance and growth.
Recruitment & Onboarding
• Manage the full recruitment process through BambooHR.
• Track applicants from first contact through hire.
• Lead onboarding: offer letters, new hire orientation, background checks, and new-hire paperwork (physicals, licensure, insurance, SSN, direct deposit, etc.)
• Enter new hires into ADP and follow the process.
Benefits & Compensation
• Administer the benefits plan, including 401(k) and medical enrollment.
• Lead annual open enrollment and enroll new hires in benefits.
• Serve as payroll backup.
Compliance & Records
• Maintain personnel files and purge terminated records appropriately.
• Ensure HR practices meet legal requirements, including 6400/6100 regulations.
• Prepare HR documentation for annual licensing.
• Track employee licenses, insurance, and registrations - and send renewal reminders.
• Oversee monthly exclusion reporting.
Claims & Employee Relations
• Manage workers' compensation claims from filing through resolution.
• Handle unemployment claims, appeals, and outside agency requests.
• Respond to external inquiries regarding employee matters.
• Manage the employee grievance process.
Strategy
• Develop and implement HR strategies and policies aligned with AIMED's broader goals.
• Provide management with decision support through HR metrics.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in human resource or business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Masters preferred.
Credentials & Platforms
• SHRM certification (or working knowledge of SHRM practices)
• Experience with HR platforms (BambooHR, ADP, or similar)
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Word
