Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations for our laboratory locations across Alabama. Working closely with executive leadership, this individual will shape and deliver people strategies that support a high-performing, compliant, and safety-focused workplace. The role provides statewide leadership across talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, HR systems, training and development, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, affirmative action, payroll oversight, and employment-law compliance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on HR professional who combines broad functional expertise with the judgment and independence needed to support teams across Alabama. This person will manage day-to-day HR operations, lead cross-functional initiatives, and build trusted relationships with employees, managers, and executive leadership. Success in the role requires confidence using HR technology, strong knowledge of employment practices, and the ability to balance employee needs, operational priorities, compliance, and the unique demands of a laboratory setting.

Ultimately, you should be able to contribute to the attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee Recruiting
  • Manage recruiter(s)
  • Coordinate with all temp agencies
  • Create relationships with local tech schools and colleges
  • Attend Job fairs
  • Social media broadcast
  • Serve as interviewer, when needed
  • Manage Job Offer Letters
  • Review Reference Checks, Background Checks, and Drug Testing results

• On boarding
  • Complete hiring process and enroll new hires in payroll and benefit systems
  • Conduct E-Verify
  • Set up and conduct orientation for new employees
  • Conduct Time Clock training and review Employee Handbook

• Training and Development
  • Manage record keeping for training, training matrix, and ensure all is up to date
  • Facilitate required training for managers and employees

• Manage Employee Performance
  • Ensure all reviews are completed in a timely manner
  • Coaching and counseling Managers and Employees
  • Coordinate with supervisors and manager on employee corrective actions
  • Monitor employee Performance Improvement Plans

• Employee Handbook
  • Work with key managers to maintain updated policies
  • Affirmative Action and Employment law compliance

• Benefits Administration
  • Responsible for the management and administration of all benefit programs
  • Respond to requests for information from Disability, Workers Comp, Accident, Hospital Indemnity, and other claims

• Separations
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Respond to Unemployment Compensation claims

• HRIS
  • Maintain all employee records
  • Responsible for the HRIS, LMS and applicant tracking system
  • Oversee full cycle Payroll

• Manage Key Metrics for HR

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of human resource management experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certifications a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce is a plus
  • Experience with Breezy ATS is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel throughout Alabama, as needed. Travel 10% or less.
