WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Operations Manager, liaising with the Director and Senior Manager HSE (health, safety, and environment), the HSE and Security Manager is responsible for effectively championing the HSE systems in order to maintain and improve upon our best-in-class HSE performance. The HSE and Security Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and facilitating HSE policy and procedure compliance, working at site to ensure consistent level of performance, and strengthening lines of communication. The HSE and Security Manager, will be tasked with ensuring that HSE is scalable to accommodate anticipated growth and has a heightened profile in line with all strategic objectives of the business. In addition, the HSE and Security Manager will provide oversight and management of site security operations for the workforce accommodation , ensuring the protection of residents, staff, visitors, company assets, and facilities. This includes ensuring security protocols, access control measures, emergency response procedures, and contractor security requirements are consistently implemented and maintained in alignment with company standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and otherwise support the safety practices, policies, procedures, and plans of the company.
  • Responsible for the overall management and leadership of HSE programs, in support of the Dexterra Group HSE direction.
  • Provide necessary training, leadership, support, and control to meet the company's goals of preventing work-related physical and psychosocial injuries and illnesses, provide safe and healthy workplaces, protecting the natural environment.
  • Provide required support to senior leadership, management, supervisors and other leaders for the strategy and program deployment and do so by employing a strong business perspective.
  • Support business development with required HSE documentation.
  • Support HSE performance to achieve targeted business output and improvement levels.
  • Support and/or otherwise implement new HSE initiatives, opportunities, and promotions in consultation with the Director and Senior Manager HSE
  • Ensure operational teams are aware of HSEQ communications and publications.
  • Provide direction to management and supervisors in the investigation and incident management process, including workers compensation claims, with the focus on Root Cause and prevention measures.
  • Conducting assessments and provide recommendations, using technical, human factors and other theoretical knowledge, to research, review and interpret information on hazards to identify causation, consequences, possible risk controls, including critical controls.
  • Support annual audits for maintenance of ISO certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE codes, regulations, laws, and other relevant standards.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and supporting operations with corrective actions from regulatory visits.
  • Update employees and management on current HSE industry topics/trends.
  • Work together with the other members of the HSEQ team to support and improve the HSE management system.
  • Accept authority to take any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure and to instill the same expectation within others.
  • Support management to ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other state or Federal regulations.
  • Engaging with contractors and supporting contractor evaluations
  • Supporting operations with applicable electronic systems.
  • Manage all security programs and activities within the Maverick Workforce Accommodation site, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee site access control systems, visitor management processes, and physical security measures.
  • Supervise and support security personnel and contractors, ensuring effective performance, training, and compliance with site standards.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to protect people, property, and operations.
  • Investigate security incidents, breaches, thefts, and other related events and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaborate with site operations, client representatives, emergency services, and regulatory agencies on security-related matters.
  • Ensure emergency response, evacuation, and business continuity plans incorporate security requirements and are regularly tested.
  • Monitor security trends and emerging risks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen site security.
  • Support workforce accommodation operations by ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of security systems, procedures, and contractor performance.
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in health, safety, or environment.
  • 5+ years managing people
  • Completion of OHSA 30 training is an asset
