The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department for Salvagnini America and Salvagnini Canada, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative workplace culture
- Assist employees with workplace concerns, benefits questions, payroll inquiries, and general support
- Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives
- Coach managers on employee relations and performance matters
- Assist with conflict resolution and sensitive employee situations
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information and matters
- Coordinating and managing team member surveys - engagement, new hire, exit interviews, and pulse surveys
- Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration
- Managing compensation programs to ensure the company offers a competitive total compensation package to recruit and retain the right talent to achieve the annual business plan
- Completing matching of internal positions to market survey, price positions based on size of company and state/national locations, and analyze shifts in the marketplace on a semi-annual basis
- Process and administer payroll accurately and timely
- Administer employee benefits and support annual open enrollment activities
- Maintain HRIS systems and employee records
- Manage PTO tracking, employee files, employment verifications, and HR documentation
- Assist with 401(k) administration and employee benefit communication
- Managing the annual merit increase budget process
- Ensuring effective administration and compliance with all aspects of the leave programs including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and any state required paid disability or paid FMLA plans
- Validating the payroll journal on a monthly basis
- Safety, Workers Compensation & Compliance
- Coordinate OSHA compliance and employee safety training initiatives
- Administer workers' compensation claims and related documentation
- Maintain and update company policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Assist with investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and performance improvement plans
- Partner with external vendors, brokers, legal counsel, and insurance providers as needed
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensuring compliance with Company policies and all applicable laws
- Researching and provide updates on federal and state employment laws and implement any required changes
- Overseeing the coordination of the Workers Compensation program including the annual audit
- Overseeing employee expense compliance, organizing employee expense audits, refreshing company policy's for expenses
- Developing an HR standard operating procedure manual.
- Managing the completion and filing of the 5500s annually
- Maintaining the corporate HR policies including research and implementing any new policies to support a highly engaged work environment
- Managing the HR record retention program and ensure the records are purged according to corporate policies
- Implementing opportunities to continuously improve programs and processes
- Prepare HR-related reports, metrics, and KPI tracking
- Assist executive leadership with special projects and organizational initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
QualificationsAt a minimum you'll need:Qualifications - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements
- Experience administering payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems
- Knowledge of OSHA, workers' compensation, and employee safety practices preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with strong follow-through and accountability
Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3-7 years of progressive HR experience preferred
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
- Payroll administration experience preferred
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar certification is a plus
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
TravelTravel will be limited and not exceed 15%. The ability to travel with short notice will be necessary.
