The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we're advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next HR Generalist to support our Rochester Manufacturing and Operations team.

The HR Generalist will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department by ensuring the seamless execution of HR processes and maintaining data integrity across systems. This position is responsible for day-to-day HR support-including data changes through Workday. The generalist also serves as a frontline resource for employee relations matters and incoming HR inquiries. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a solid understanding of employment laws and proficiency in systems such as Workday and Microsoft Office, are essential for success in this role.

This position will be working in a hybrid schedule in Rochester, NY (4-days onsite).

The Responsibilities
  • Responsible for addressing employee relations matters timely including investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment and other workplace concerns.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and People Managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to Sr. HR Business Partner.
  • Process employee transactions in Workday, including job changes, manager changes, pay increases and terminations, etc.
  • Maintain high standards of data integrity by validating and updating employee records and ensuring all HR transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews as required.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners, Benefits, Total Rewards, HRIS, Payroll, and People Managers to support operations team.
  • Manage unemployment claims, including correspondence and documentation requests while ensuring compliance with all applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations and Company policies.

  • Assist with HR related projects as needed.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.


The Individual

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Human Resources
  • Ability to understand Federal and New York State employment laws required
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.
  • Ability to handle a high volume and fast-paced work environment while ensuring deadlines are met
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is crucial
  • Must be very well organized, accurate, thorough and monitor work for quality
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with the ability to prioritize
  • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personalities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel between Rochester sites (4 office locations)
  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred:
  • Previous Workday experience
  • HR certification
  • Previous Manufacturing experience

The Work Environment

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
