  • Review and maintain HR documentation such as policies and job descriptions.

Full Job Description
This role is responsible for independently managing a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-oriented, and passionate about supporting employees and business leaders. This position will report to our Pleasanton office with a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding and training.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and workplace matters.
  • Provide guidance and support on routine to moderately complex employee relations matters, escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as appropriate.
  • Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, employee development, corrective action, and performance improvement processes.
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
  • Support annual HR programs and processes, including performance reviews, compensation and rewards cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and required training.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, process employee changes, and ensure documentation complies with company standards and applicable requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and support HR audits, reporting, and policy updates.
  • Prepare and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends and support HR and business decision-making.
  • Partner with HR team members and internal stakeholders to respond to employee inquiries and ensure the consistent delivery of HR programs and services.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain HR documentation, including job descriptions, policies, procedures, and employee communications.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to HR processes, programs, and the overall employee experience.
  • Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or comparable HR role.
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, employee lifecycle processes, and HR program administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Experience in the AEC, consulting, or professional-services industry preferred.
  • HR certification, such as PHR or SHRM-CP, is a plus.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to travel to various BKF offices as needed.

Benefits
  • The typical base salary range for this position is $79,000 - $105,000 per year and may vary depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salaried position paid bi-weekly.
