The HR Data Scientist develops analytical solutions that improve workforce decision-making by applying statistical analysis, programming, and data science techniques to HR data. This role designs and automates data pipelines, integrates and harmonizes data from multiple HR systems, develops standardized data definitions and workforce metrics, and builds reproducible analytical models and workflows. Working closely with HR, IT, Finance, and business leaders, the HR Data Scientist transforms complex workforce data into actionable insights and establishes the technical foundation for diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive people analytics.
Roles & Responsibilities:- Develop statistical analyses and progressively more advanced analytical models that support the organization's evolution from descriptive to diagnostic and predictive workforce analytics.
- Develop reusable analytical assets, datasets, and models that enable scalable self-service analytics and decision support.
- Develop predictive and statistical models to answer complex workforce questions.
- Apply machine learning, causal inference, and other analytical techniques where appropriate.
- Partner with HR, business leaders, and People Analytics colleagues to frame ambiguous questions into analytical approaches.
- Use Python, SQL, and modern data science techniques to investigate workforce challenges.
- Build reusable datasets, feature engineering pipelines, and analytical data models.
- Improve the quality, reliability, and accessibility of people data.
- Automate recurring analyses and data preparation processes.
- Validate analytical models and communicate assumptions, limitations, and results to ensure reliable, actionable business insights.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve data architecture and governance.
- Evaluate emerging AI and analytical techniques for People Analytics applications.
- Develop and maintain standardized HR data definitions, business rules, calculation methodologies, metadata, and data dictionaries to improve the quality, consistency, governance, and trustworthiness of workforce analytics.
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to translate business requirements into sustainable data and analytics solutions
Basic Qualifications:- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience in data science, people analytics, workforce analytics, or a related quantitative analytics role.
- Experience developing, validating, and deploying statistical and predictive models using Python, SQL, and machine learning techniques.
- Experience preparing, integrating, and transforming complex datasets, with familiarity in ETL/ELT pipelines, analytical data modeling, and workflow automation.
- Experience leveraging Workday HCM and integrating data across multiple HR systems to develop analytical data models that support advanced workforce analytics and reporting.
- Experience collaborating with data engineering, technology, and data governance teams to improve HR data quality, standards, documentation, and enterprise analytics capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience automating reporting processes and improving operational efficiencies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and communicate complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
- This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
