Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

We are looking for a collaborative and business-minded HR Business Partner to support a couple of our Corporate Client Groups. This is an opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys partnering directly with leaders, translating business needs into practical people solutions, and building strong credibility across fast-moving, complex client groups.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to People Leaders across your assigned Corporate Client Groups, supporting core HR programs, employee relations matters, performance management, engagement, workforce planning, and leader coaching. You will work closely with Centres of Excellence and HR colleagues to deliver thoughtful, consistent, and effective HR support that helps leaders make informed people decisions.

This is a strong role for someone who has solid HRBP or senior HR advisory experience and is ready to deepen their business partnering capability in a corporate environment. The ideal candidate is confident working through ambiguity, comfortable with sensitive employee matters, and energized by the opportunity to support technology and innovation-focused teams without needing to be the most senior HR expert in the room.

This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration.

About The Role:
  • Partner with People Leaders in assigned Corporate Client Groups to understand business priorities and provide practical HR guidance that supports team effectiveness, employee engagement, and sound people decisions.
  • Support the delivery of annual HR programs, including performance management, talent review and succession planning, compensation planning, employee engagement surveys, and related action planning.
  • Coach and advise leaders on employee relations matters, workplace concerns, performance issues, attendance, accommodations, investigations, and other sensitive or confidential situations.
  • Use data, employee feedback, and business context to identify themes, risks, and opportunities, and recommend practical solutions in partnership with HR Centres of Excellence.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Employee Experience, Organizational Development, Legal, and HR Operations to help leaders navigate HR processes and deliver timely employee support.
  • Support leaders through organizational change, workforce planning discussions, role changes, team effectiveness opportunities, and employee communication needs.
  • Facilitate leader discussions, calibration sessions, employee feedback reviews, and targeted education sessions as needed.

What You Need to Succeed:

Education:
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Employee Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation, completed or in progress, is considered an asset.

Experience:
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience supporting leaders as an HR Business Partner, HR Advisor, Employee Relations Advisor, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting corporate, technology, financial services, or professional client groups
  • Experience advising leaders on employee relations, performance management, engagement, talent programs, and HR policy interpretation.

Skills and Capabilities:
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to earn trust, ask good questions, and provide balanced advice to leaders.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when working with confidential, sensitive, or complex employee matters.
  • Ability to translate HR programs and policies into clear, practical guidance for People Leaders.
  • Confidence working with data, employee feedback, and HR metrics to identify themes and issue spot and support recommendations.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills, including the ability to support courageous conversations in a professional and balanced way.
  • Comfort working in a technology-enabled environment and using Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve HR practice, including drafting communications, analyzing information, summarizing themes, preparing recommendations, and improving day-to-day efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and employment-related legislation; knowledge of the Canada Labour Code is an asset.

What's In It For You

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program that includes a competitive compensation package, flexible benefits and time away options, retirement and savings plans and a commitment to your overall health and well-being through our myWell-being program.
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact.
  • Opportunities to do challenging work and progressively take on greater accountabilities for growth.
  • We foster an inclusive atmosphere of One Symcor with our philosophy of +1 Unique You®, we harness each employee's uniqueness, different skills, backgrounds, and perspectives to contribute to mutual success.
