Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a trusted business partner and consultant to leaders, helping connect people strategies to organizational goals in Springfield, MA.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a dedicated HR resource for an assigned division or business entity, providing guidance across the full spectrum of Human Resources. The HRBP partners closely with leaders and employees to navigate employee relations, performance management, compensation, talent development, policy interpretation, compliance, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

As a trusted HR advisor, you will:

  • Partner with leaders to understand business priorities and develop HR strategies that support organizational goals and strategic initiatives.

  • Advise and coach managers on employee relations, performance concerns, disciplinary processes, employee development, and other people-related challenges.

  • Support talent acquisition and retention by partnering with Recruitment Consultants and leaders throughout the selection process and analyzing exit interview data to identify opportunities to strengthen retention.

  • Champion a positive employee experience by serving as a resource and advocate for employees while helping foster a supportive, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

  • Guide performance management by helping leaders establish clear expectations, provide meaningful feedback, and address performance concerns consistently and effectively.

  • Partner on compensation matters, helping leaders understand compensation practices and ensuring equitable and consistent approaches across the organization.

  • Identify training and development needs and connect leaders and employees with appropriate learning resources and HR expertise.

  • Interpret and administer HR policies, coaching managers on their application and helping ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees.

  • Support compliance with employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies while identifying potential areas of risk and partnering with leaders on corrective action.

  • Investigate employee concerns and complaints, including workplace disputes and other sensitive employee relations matters, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Communicate HR programs, initiatives, and organizational priorities to leaders and employees and help translate HR strategy into meaningful action.

  • Collaborate across the HR team to ensure consistency in HR practices, philosophy, and standards throughout the health system.

  • Keep HR leadership informed of significant employee relations, organizational climate, and workforce trends that may impact the business.

SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time

  • Monday–Friday, primarily during business hours with flexibility to adjust the schedule based on business needs.

LOCATION:

  • Primary location: Springfield, MA

  • May be required to travel to other Baystate Health entities as needed.

  • Hybrid work opportunity- minimum of 3 days on-site required. Candidate must live in MA or CT

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelors Degree, required

  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience with demonstrated expertise in employee relations, HR strategy, and partnering with leaders and hiring managers to address workforce needs and achieve business objectives.

  • Experience working in a unionized healthcare environment and familiarity with labor relations and collective bargaining agreements, preferred

  • Proven ability to coach, support, and develop leaders and hiring managers, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, talent decisions, and other people-related matters.

  • Strong understanding of HR practices, policies, employment laws, and regulations, with the ability to apply sound HR judgment and provide thoughtful guidance to both leaders and employees.

  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee matters with professionalism and sound judgment.

  • The ability to balance employee advocacy with organizational needs and business objectives.

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
