Full Job Description
Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:
The House Supervisor is accountable for a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient functioning of hospital operations and the provision of safe and effective patient care. This includes coordinating clinical and nursing resources to optimize efficient patient flow supporting throughput initiatives for safe patient placement, and working closely with the staffing office and unit leaders to ensure departments are appropriately staffed. The incumbent will collaborate with Capacity Management, Transfer Center, Care Management and hospital operations to manage effective house-wide throughput, escalating issues as appropriate. The House Supervisor will assess issues related to the provision of patient care, patient and employee safety, and patient or family dissatisfaction, and will ensure effective actions are taken to resolve those issues collaborating with appropriate teams. The House Supervisor serves as a key liaison, facilitating communication and collaboration between all teams within the medical center and in the absence of senior leadership initiates interventions as needed to determine escalations to designated Department Directors and/or the Administrator on call.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency and skill in the use of multiple hospital computer systems and programs that relate to hospital throughput.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive management and leadership experience or house supervisor experience
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements present in an acute care setting
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience working in an acute care setting
  • Current BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications
  • Complete understanding of acuity levels for all patient populations
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays


Licenses and Certifications:
  • CA Registered Nurse
  • ACLS, BLS & PALS
