Do you want to become an expert in corporate performance and valuation? Do you have a strong interest in analyzing companies and generating unique insights?
We're looking for someone who can:
• Conduct accounting research on emerging reporting, disclosure, and regulatory developments, assessing their implications for company valuations, investment analysis, and the UBS HOLT framework.
• Pull large datasets from multiple databases covering various sectors/countries/time periods, derive insights from the data, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and use the data to implement decisions.
• Develop expertise in financial statement analysis and accounting adjustments to eliminate accounting distortions and maintain the quality of the HOLT framework.
• Assist in designing, testing and validating enhancements to the framework using HOLT's financial dataset spanning back decades.
• Contribute to published written research and internal documentation communicating findings and investment implications.
• Work across a global team, utilizing modelling, valuation, and analytical skills to 1. provide clients with investment insights and 2. operate as an accounting expert to the HOLT Model Research Team.
Your team
You'll be working on the HOLT Model Research team within Equity Research in Chicago, focusing on accounting research and modeling while supporting the publication of accounting and tax insights through timely, high-quality client deliverables. We provide market-leading insights, investment solutions and services to buy-side equities portfolio managers and analysts. UBS HOLT is the industry leader in understanding the corporate performance and valuation of equities with a strong client franchise and brand recognition across major institutional investors, hedge funds and wealth managers.
Your expertise
An individual with technical accounting acumen, strong analytical skills, and an interest in equity markets. This role is based in Chicago, and candidates must be willing to relocate if they are not currently located in the Chicagoland area.
• You're curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment - validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
• BS or MS in Accounting, or BS or MS Finance-related disciplines with high technical accounting competence required.
• CPA and/or CFA designation, or active pursuit of designation is a plus.
• 1+ years of experience in Equity Research, Public Accounting, Investment Banking, or a Financial Analyst role.
• Passion for equity markets and a strong understanding of valuation and corporate performance.
• Experience with large datasets highly preferred (Databricks, Python, SQL, R, etc. experience a plus).
• Strong team orientation and ability to collaborate across IT/Research/Sales/DevOps.
Salary information
The indicative gross base salary range as a full-time equivalent role:
• United States - Illinois - Chicago min USD 90000 - max USD 107500 /annum
