Job Description

This position will be responsible for virus production and characterization, and patient sample handling and testing via high throughput instrumentation. The successful candidate will participate in routine testing as well as the development and validation of novel assays.

The job will entail several facets of HIV work including:
  • Receipt, logging, and processing of patient blood samples into PBMCs
  • Virus production - including large laboratory-scale preps, ELISA and flow cytometry-based characterization, and plasmid handling
  • High throughput testing of compounds in cellular HIV assays
  • Assisting with development, validation, and running of novel biomarker assay


Qualifications

This job is fast-paced and will be very much hands-on in the laboratory. Handling of HIV+ materials (lab strains as well as patient-derived samples) is a job requirement.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least a bachelor's degree in life science, bioengineering, or similar area of study
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical industry lab environment focusing on cell culture and running assays
  • Must have hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and immunoassays
  • Ability and willingness to learn and operate automated equipment
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with blood processing
  • Experience with primary cell culture, transfection, and flow cytometry
  • Previous experience operating automated liquid handlers


Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, generally 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., but may vary to meet the assay needs; overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of West Point, PA are encouraged to apply.
