High School Special Education Teacher

Focus: Resource Instruction/Co-teaching

Required Certification: 165

Sample Duties:

Deliver Targeted Instruction: Design and implement individualized lesson plans within the resource room to address specific IEP goals, focusing on intensive remediation in core academic areas.

Provide Seamless In-Class Support: Collaborate with general education teachers to co-teach, adapt curriculum, and provide real-time accommodations, ensuring students fully access the core curriculum within their least restrictive environment.

Manage Case Load & Compliance: Serve as the primary case manager for a designated roster of students, including tracking progress, writing comprehensive IEPs, and facilitating annual review meetings.

Implement Accommodations & Modalities: Modify assignments, assessments, and classroom environments to match diverse learning profiles, utilizing assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies.

Collaborate & Communicate: Maintain proactive, ongoing communication with families, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure unified support for student success.

Salary per Branford Education Association Contract:

$56,974 - $113,513 pending degree level
