JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Overview

The Healthcare Market Development Leader will be responsible for business development within untapped market opportunities that are not currently in our sales team's scope and must be comfortable working in varying levels of ambiguity and shifting priorities. The MDL will work collaboratively with market team members and cross-functional partners to gain access to and influence executive-level decision makers within the healthcare market. The MDL is also responsible for establishing and developing relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to local advocacy groups, employer groups, HCPs, and other critical influencers within the market to educate and advocate for solutions and protocols to support key commercial opportunities.

This position is field based supporting Tampa, Miami and Orlando.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Develop and deliver local and market business plans and strategies aligned with market level priorities.
    • In alignment with the market director, create strategic business plans for potential targets and priorities leveraging a range of tactics to address identified customer and market needs in order to meet or achieve target expectations across a range of metrics, including sales, growth, market share and customer retention.
    • Extends and strengthens stakeholder relationships across the market, including representing the company at relevant medical conferences, advocacy events, and technical exhibitions to promote Exact Sciences products and value proposition.
    • Expand current business opportunities in a variety of organizations and businesses; examples to include, but will be specific for market needs, are FQHC's, Indian Health Services, detention centers, employer groups, and long-term care facilities.
    • Work with internal cross-functional partners to bring value to customers based on identified opportunities and needs.
    • Harness data from a range of sources, including provided metrics and information, to track progress against business and customer plans and adapt as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the market to build advocacy and support for Exact Sciences solutions to enhance clinical decision making and patient outcomes.
    • Articulate a clear and compelling value proposition based on the up-to-date product and technical expertise to highlight the value of Exact Sciences products for patients, customers, and the wider healthcare system, with tailored messages.
    • Build coalitions and advocacy through chains of influence based on a keen appreciation of the networks of relationships that influence clinical decision making.
    • Inform, educate, and enable target stakeholders about Exact Sciences products and value propositions to equip them to make informed decisions about treatment choices, patient resources and the cancer screening landscape.
    • Collaborate with other functions and roles (Director, Strategic Accounts, National Account Managers, Screening Solutions Manager, Screening Solutions Specialist, Medical Science Liaisons, Health Equity, Medical Affairs, Marketing etc.) to provide the necessary technical, clinical, and business content to create a competitive differentiation and deliver solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Generate deep insight into local healthcare markets comprising specifically targeted integrated delivery networks (IDNs), Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) aligned with that system, and potential new business opportunities.
    • Analyze the treatment journey across the local system of care to identify opportunities to work with HCPs to improve clinical decision making and deliver better patient outcomes.
    • Build a network of relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), HCPs, other clinicians and stakeholders across the healthcare market in order to gather insight about their needs, challenges and concerns that Exact Sciences can address.
    • Synthesize data from a range of formal and informal sources to understand the evolving and dynamic local care system, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness and share with sales, marketing and other cross-functional colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 6+ years of experience in a customer-facing sales role in a medical, healthcare or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies to drive growth.
  • Proficiency in applying effective sales process and relationship building skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; no suspended, revoked, surrendered, invalid, etc. allowed.
  • No more than two moving violations, events, or accidents within the last 36 months.
  • No alcohol or drug event in which a vehicle was driven by the candidate or employee, including but not limited to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) failure, refusal to submit to alcohol or drug test, alcohol related suspension, etc. in the last 36 months.
  • No other results from the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that exposes Exact Sciences to what Exact Sciences deems to be an unacceptable level of liability.
  • Ability to meet any requirements set by healthcare facilities for access to those facilities (e.g. vaccination requirements, mask requirements, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with health system account managers.
  • Experience in business development and finding new ways to grow business and build partnerships for new opportunities.
  • Experience with a healthcare sales product launch.
  • Advanced degree.


The base pay for this position is
$99,300.00 - $198,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
