Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with project teams through education and coaching
  • Assist in implementing claims management and return-to-work programs
  • Recommend improvements to safety programs
  • Develop and implement safety training programs
  • Conduct new worker orientations
  • Provide training region-wide as a Train-the-Trainer
  • Maintain required documentation and report writing
  • Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings
  • Visit job sites frequently to support ongoing work

Full Job Description
This position will be based out of our Vancouver Branch (located in Surrey, BC), reporting to the Health and Safety Supervisor for BC.

A Day In The Life

  • Manage the safety requirements of operational construction sites and equipment
  • Conduct safety evaluations of Flynn project sites using documentation and standardized processes
  • Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to required safety standards in keeping with Flynn policy/legislation
  • Identifying potential risks and safety hazards during a project through involvement throughout the job life cycle (estimate, pre-mobilization, constructionand autopsy)
  • Performing incident investigations as per the company's health and safety programs
  • Maintain a conducive working relationship with all management, superintendents, project managers through education, coaching, advising and giving practical on site application options
  • Assisting with the communication and implementation of the company's claims management and return to work programs
  • Be proactive in recommending changes to improve the safety programs
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safety training programs
  • Conducting new worker safety orientations
  • Provide training services throughout the region as a Train-the-Trainer
  • Report writing and maintaining all required documentation
  • Attending and facilitating monthly safety committee meetings as required
  • Frequent visits to job sites and branches supporting the work on hand.


What We Are Seeking

  • Formal education and/or training in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety, NCSO or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a safety role within a construction environment
  • Experience working in the ICI construction industry, specifically dealing with flat roofs and architectural metal products is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the COR process is considered a strong asset
  • Safety knowledge in Working at Heights, Fall Protection, Fire Protection and WHMIS
  • Knowledge and practical experience in incident investigation
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Computer literate in Windows applications; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license required


$75,000 - $95,000 a year
