Salary Range: $80,000 - $178,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

We are seeking a full-time Health Educator/Mental Health Counselor to teach students in Grades K-6. This position is an integral part of Dalton's K-12 Health and Wellness Department, which has the mission to support and nurture each student's social, emotional, and intellectual life, enabling them to thrive within the Dalton community.
The Health Educator/Mental Health Counselor is a 10-month position. The person will teach health classes and provide social and emotional support for students outside of the classroom. We seek a candidate with experience and interest in working with a broad range of students through engaging, inquiry-based lessons within the framework of the Dalton Plan. Experience in developing a data and researched-based Health curriculum is central to this role. This person will work closely with Health and K-6 team members on building out an innovative and clear scope and sequence for the Health program.
Responsibilities:- Teach multiple sections of Health in Grades K-6.
- Learn and teach the 'FRIENDS' curriculum (an SEL program taught in grades 2-6).
- Work closely and collaborate with our First Program (lower school) psychologist to counsel individual students and co-facilitate student groups.
- Provide student support services (social, behavioral, emotional) and strategies of prevention and intervention to assist students in developing effective coping skills and responses to their environments.
- Collaborate with the Health and Wellness team to review lessons, develop curriculum, and think innovatively about co-curricular health programming.
- Advise parents and faculty of approaches to child development, student learning, and behavioral and social challenges.
- Provide resources and referrals, when needed and appropriate, for outside support and counseling.
- Stay current on health education and best practices in support of students.
- Create interdisciplinary connections between the health curriculum with assignments in other disciplines.
- Fostering multicultural competency and an inclusive learning and work environment utilizing best clinical and teaching practices. Collecting data to analyze needs and evaluate our current health program.
- Develop and/or deliver faculty training and professional development opportunities to support and address the community's specific needs.
Qualifications:- Master's degree in counseling, health education, public health or related fields.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience working with this age group in a school or similar setting.
- Enjoy working with children, collaborating with colleagues and being involved in co-curricular aspects of school life.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong commitment to collaboration in support of students and the curriculum.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Reflective practitioner with a willingness to grow professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, take initiative, and follow through.
