eBay Live is a startup inside eBay, working to bring live shopping to eBay's enthusiast customers. The GM of the North America business is seeking a right hand person who can help the business through the next stage of scaling, building a strong operating system for the team, managing information flow across the team and up to executives, parachuting into critical projects, and getting ahead of the next set of scaling problems.
Key responsibilities- Build a strong operating system for the North American BU, ensuring information flow to the right people, establishing review cadences with BU and cross functional teams, and acting as the connective tissue between all the parts of the North America business unit (BU) and the connection point to the central Live strategy & ops team. As part of that mandate:
- Set up and own review cadences for the GM with the BU or cross functional teams, ensuring the GM can maintain bird's eye view of all critical initiatives and progress against them, and disseminating information to the many stakeholders we work with to deliver the business
- Help implement central initiatives inside the NA BU
- Surface opportunities for different collaboration models, joint pain points to resolve, or issues that require GM attention
- Lead cross-cutting projects across the business that don't fall neatly in category management, programming, or ops execution domains; for example top down initiatives, bi-annual planning, monetization or incentives strategies
- Know the business in and out and help unblock it:
- Understand business drivers in each category and common issues in front of us to resolve; be a thought partner to category teams
- Maintain up to date view of competitive moves and implications for eBay Live
- Perform quick turn analyses to drive business direction
- Perform first diligence of areas of concern in the business or new opportunities on behalf of the GM, sizing issues or opportunities, understanding bottlenecks, helping form plans
- Own exec communications
- Use your deep knowledge of the business to write executive recaps, produce slideware for GM presentations
- Drive adoption of AI best practices for analysis, workflow improvement
Support- This role manages a strong data analyst and process builder, and is supported cross functionally by a program management team
Must have skills:- Framework driven thinking; ability to quickly frame up disparate pieces of information
- Ability to consume and retain lots of information
- Strong relationship building skills; wisdom on assessing people's competencies and motivations
- Ability to create excellent slides for an executive audience, with clear narratives and data support
- Desire to help a fast growing startup through consecutive stages of scaling, with an instinct for
- Fluency with AI tools for analysis
Experience:- 10 years of experience across consulting and operating; ideally in consumer tech or ecommerce
- Previous chief of staff or strategy & ops experience highly valued
- Previous scale-up experience highly valued
- MBA preferred
Additional DetailsThe base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$178,800 - $238,700
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
