Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with reliability or quality engineering.
  • Experience in reliability testing, fixture design and testing equipment for environmental, mechanical and electrical testing.
  • Experience in design for reliability techniques such as FTA and DFMEA, reliability modeling techniques such as Reliability Block Diagram, Weibull, and ALT.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in developing reliability acceleration models.
  • Familiarity with simulation including finite element analysis, and having practical understanding on how mechanical design and tolerance affect reliability.
  • Understanding of the physics of failure of typical failure modes encountered in consumer electronic products.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate issues to executives.
  • Excellent communication skills.


About the job

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

Product integrity engineering (PIE) team's mission is to help build and ship safe reliable products that delight the customer.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $188000 - $275000 (USD) 20% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Define product reliability requirements based on targeted usage profile. Translate product reliability requirements into appropriate testable goals and perform risk assessments for various design and materials selections.
  • Lead reliability test planning, methodology and execution for all aspects of the product. Develop reliability performance metrics and lead management reviews to update progress against those metrics.
  • Work closely with test engineers to develop new reliability testing, perform reliability tests, resolve testing issues and document findings. Perform statistical data analysis, ALT testing, reliability modeling and risk assessment.
  • Lead the failure analysis process with internal and external cross-functional teams for all failures discovered during reliability testing.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally.
