Standard Job DescriptionTHE WORK This position is for a Hardware Engineering Asc. Mgr. who will lead a team of PCB designers and Component Engineers who define the board layout, drafting, BOM development and Component Engineers who manage part selection, part approval, obsolescence, and related activities in the design and development of products. You will be providing technical, programmatic, and leadership support to the team, including project leadership and planning, talent management, resource planning, functional overhead planning, performance management, and tool support. You will need to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and program management, to ensure successful project execution. Efforts will include proposal estimating support, developing and managing project schedules, budgets, resource allocation plans, identifying and mitigating risks. You will be leading the team through implementing process improvements to drive efficiency and affordability. The team will support projects covering Customer Contracts and new technologies advancements through IRAD. Manages the research, design, development, and testing of COTS or custom computing hardware and/or otherelectrical components. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the development of designs for the installation of components into chassis, racks, cabinets, and workstations, customer facilities, and/or shelters. Plans, directs, reviews and coordinates preparation of project documentation to ensure customer contract and company requirements are met. Ensures proper preparation of specifications, evaluation of vendors, and analysis of test reports.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in related field in addition to 7+ years of related experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership Imperatives
- Highly experienced in leading Technical teams (e.g., previous experience as a Technical Lead, Project Manager, System Lead, or Product Lead)
- Experience in Electrical Engineering principles and practices, or a similarly related field.
- Working knowledge in an adjacent discipline (Components, Computer, Hardware, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering)
- Demonstrated proficiencies in earned value, schedule, cost, and risk management techniques
- Understanding of hardware engineering processes and the hardware engineering product life cycle.
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Desired Skills- Prior management experience and/or experience leading a large functional project or change initiative
- Experience in Component Engineering with part selection, obsolescence management, GIDEPs, part libraries, and similar fields
- Experience with Printed Circuit Board Design and Industry Standards
- Experience with GD&T and applicable ASME drafting standards
- Experience with Model-Based Electrical CAD tools, including Xpedition, Zuken CR, Cadence, and Altium
- Experience with Windchill and/or EPDM product data management toolset
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practices (Cameo preferred)
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at both programmatic and technical levels with subordinates, senior management, program office, and customers
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement process improvements that drive efficiency and affordability
- Proposal preparation and negotiation experience
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
