The impact you'll make

At Lam, you will play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation hardware solutions by applying your deep expertise in mechanical design and product configuration. You'll drive innovation through advanced CAD and PLM practices, contribute to robust configuration management and change control, and help push the boundaries of digital transformation across the product lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop precise mechanical parts and subassemblies, and create layouts to support product design and technology development while adhering to established engineering standards, best practices, and DFx principles
  • Document and release engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) through Engineering Change Management and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Supply Chain to define design and cost requirements, conduct Design Reviews, and complete the full design cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on BOM structure construction and configuration in a Teamcenter PLM environment.
  • Coordinate with the New Product Introduction group to build product architecture BOMs for different products in a Teamcenter PLM environment.


Who we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least five years of direct hardware design experience.
  • Proven competency developing complex electromechanical systems, packaging, fixtures, and tooling.
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with metal machining and sheet metal fabrication; familiarity with alternative fabrication techniques such as casting and additive manufacturing, and design experience with ceramics are pluses.
  • Strong understanding of various material properties, coatings, and finishes.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in configuration management and change control in PLM applications; experience in Siemens Teamcenter PLM v2312 or newer, Active Workspace, and Product Configurator is a big plus.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and drafting best practices; experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD) and Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) is a plus.
  • Expert-level CAD user; deep proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Keen understanding of and experience with large assembly management methodologies and concurrent engineering principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Copilot and Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.


Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience in the semiconductor equipment industry.
  • Experience in collaborating effectively across global cross-functional teams within a matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.


Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $73,000.00 - $159,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
