Gynecologist, Endometriosis and Chronic Pelvic Pain Specialist BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, Vancouver, BC The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of British Columbia, is seeking applications for a clinical faculty position in the Division of Gynaecologic Specialties, based at BC Women's Hospital. The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic clinical academic team providing advanced endometriosis surgical expertise and chronic pelvic pain management for the Province of British Columbia.
This successful candidate will be joining the 6 gynecologists working at the BC Women's Centre for Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis, a world renowned tertiary care hospital-based clinic which services the entire province. This full-time position will include: assessing patients in clinic, doing specialized ultrasounds, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, performing surgeries at BCW Hospital and UBC/VGH hospitals and supervising residents and Clinical Fellows. This position will include providing call coverage for gynecologic emergencies at UBC/VGH by participating in the Doctor of the Day (DOD) call schedule.
The successful candidate must have post-graduate training in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) as well as assessment and management of chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis. Desirable additional skills include advanced ultrasound skill in evaluation of deep endometriosis, robotic surgery and/or neuropelviology. Evidence of research activity is desired. Preference will be given to an early to mid career Gynaecologist who has a diversity of training experience and has demonstrated academic productivity and/or leadership experience.
Reporting will be through to the Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at BC Women's Hospital, the Heads of Gynecology at Vancouver Acute Hospitals, the Head of the Division of Gynaecologic Specialties, and to the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UBC.
It is expected that the successful candidate will apply for and hold a clinical faculty appointment in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. As a clinical faculty member, the successful candidate will be expected to involve learners in clinical activity, and participate in program development and student evaluation as well as research and knowledge dissemination.
Applicants must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and be eligible to hold a clinical faculty appointment at UBC. This is an excellent time for US-trained OBGYNs to consider relocating, thanks to significant recent regulatory changes in British Columbia, which now allows American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) members to be eligible for full speciality class licensure.
This position is funded by fee for service through the medical services plan of British Columbia. There is also a stipend from Vancouver Acute for DOD call and a stipend from UBC for clinical teaching of medical students and residents.
The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026, but could be flexible depending on the successful candidate's timeline.
