Overview

Manager, Field Investigations - Asset Protection

The Manager, Field Investigations leads a team of Field Investigators and directs investigative strategies to identify, disrupt, and resolve Organized Retail Crime (ORC), external theft, fraud, and other significant risks impacting Catalyst Brands. This role provides oversight of complex investigations, develops law enforcement and industry partnerships, leverages intelligence and investigative technologies, and collaborates with Asset Protection leadership and the Central Investigation Center to reduce loss, mitigate risk, drive case resolutions, and develop investigative talent.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads, prioritizes, assigns, and supervises investigative activities throughout the Western Region while providing strategic direction to a team of Field Investigators. Approves investigative strategies, operational plans, surveillance activities and resource allocation to ensure successful outcomes.


  • Provides oversight and direction for complex investigations involving Organized Retail Crime, external theft, cargo theft, financial fraud, eCommerce crime, marketplace investigations, and other significant loss events.


  • Guides investigators through multi-jurisdictional investigations and supports successful prosecution outcomes.


  • Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, fusion centers, ORC Associations, and retail investigation partners. Represents Catalyst Brands during intelligence-sharing initiatives and collaborative investigations designed to disrupt organized criminal enterprises.


  • Develops and maintains relationships with regional and district AP teams to partner on complex internal and external cases. Leads and/or aids in resolving escalated (high risk/complex/sensitive) internal investigations by utilizing additional Field Investigations resources.


  • Collaborates with the Central Investigation Center, Field Investigators, Asset Protection teams, and business partners on initiatives, special investigations, and enterprise risk reduction projects.


  • Accountable for achieving established investigative performance metrics, including case closures, ORC disruption, recoveries, prosecution support, investigator productivity, and team development objectives.


  • Supports enterprise response efforts related to critical incidents, violent retail crime, protests, civil unrest, natural disasters, workplace violence concerns, and other business disruptions.


  • Leads the recruitment, development, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning of Field Investigators while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Core Competencies & Accomplishments

  • 5+ years related Field Investigations leadership experience


  • 7+ years Field Investigations/Asset Protection experience


  • Strong working knowledge of investigative case management systems, intelligence platforms, CCTV, digital evidence tools, marketplace investigations, exception reporting, and Microsoft Office applications.


  • Travel up to 60% throughout the assigned region and other locations as business needs require.


  • Experience conducting and managing mobile surveillance operations in support of Organized Retail Crime, fraud, and complex investigations.


  • Professional certifications such as LPC, LPQ, CFE, CFI, Wicklander-Zulawski, Vigilare Surveillance Training (VST), or equivalent investigative certifications preferred.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Leadership, Intelligence Studies, or related field preferred.
