POSITION OVERVIEWUnder direction of the Manager of Maintenance and Operations, the position performs duties that oversee the grounds keeping services of the District. The position is responsible for organizing the work of grounds keeping staff at all District locations, approving time off, evaluating subordinate staff, conducting daily inspections of areas under responsibility, and maintaining inventory of all grounds keeping supplies and equipment.
Salary: $8,275.64 - $10,171.44 Monthly

Full Job Description:
Essential Job Duties:- Organizes the horticultural care of campus grounds to ensure that such areas are safe, clean, developed, and remain attractive to students and visitors.
- Analyze employee performance to develop performance evaluations, and devise strategies to address performance issues.
- Ensures that subordinate staff attend safety trainings and maintain appropriate certifications to operate equipment and comply with OSHA safety standards and District risk management policies; conducts monthly staff meetings/trainings to promote safe workplace practices, proper grounds keeping techniques, maintenance of irrigation systems, and equipment operation.
- Reviews purchase requisitions to verify available funds, appropriate quantities and accuracy of requested material.
- Participates in the District's recruitment process to assist the supervising managers in the hiring of full time and part time grounds keeping staff.
- Schedules work assignments for grounds staff to ensure that campus areas are cleaned, maintained, and functional.
- Performs timekeeping functions, prepares attendance logs, overtime assignments, accident reports, and other reports as necessary to ensure compliance with bargaining unit contracts, and District policies.
Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Five years of experience working in grounds keeping operations.
- Three years providing work direction or working in a lead capacity.
- A Class C Driver's License.
- A California Applicators License.
- Aquatic Facility Operator License.
PLEASE NOTE: If an incumbent does not possess the California Applicators License and the Aquatic Facility Operator License, the incumbent must obtain both licenses within twelve (12) months of hire date.
