Job DescriptionThe Grant Accountant will:- Update and maintain the Project Tracking System database for federal awards.
- Prepare quarterly and annual Financial Statements for federal awards.
- Submit annual Program Income reports for NSF.
- Reconcile and analyze grant costs, ensuring institutional and federal guidelines are followed.
- Perform monthly draws for federal award reimbursement.
- Review subcontract documents and prepare invoices to prime contractor on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile/analyze accounts receivables and assigned balance sheet accounts on a quarterly basis and inquire with grantor about past due balances.
- Prepare annual tax letters to Switzer awardees.
- Identify, calculate and determine excess interest earned on awards receiving funds in advance.
- Assist with month-end/year-end activities which include: grant revenue recognition, subcontractor accruals, sub-recipient monitoring, and grant revenue and expense analysis.
- Provide financial reporting support to Research Administration as requested.
- Provide backup support for accounting/reporting of non-federal grant awards and clinical trials.
- Prepare monthly FFATA reporting of Subawards
- Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Reporting Relationships:- Reports directly to Supervisor Regulatory Accounting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field is required; CPA or Master's Degree in Accounting preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of related work experience..
- Experience working with and managing federal awards and contracts.
- Experience working with GAAP in a Not-for-Profit environment is preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of business tools and technology.
- Working knowledge of Great Plains, Excel, MS Word, Power Point and Access is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills; responding to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills needed to interpret and explain financial information to employees and management. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external clientele.
- Ability to work collaboratively to leverage expertise in other functions resulting in improved outcomes and efficiencies.
- Ability to identify and implement opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
Working Conditions:- Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

Pay and Benefits*:Pay Range: $61,800.00 - $103,000.00
