Graduate Engineer II – Electrical

Overview

MSA Professional Services is looking for a Graduate Engineer II – Electrical to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. This is an opportunity for an early-career electrical engineer to continue developing technical expertise while taking greater ownership of project assignments and working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.

In this role, you’ll support the planning, design, and construction of electrical systems while expanding your experience with calculations, design documents, specifications, field investigations, and construction support. You’ll have the opportunity to work with increasing independence, interact directly with clients and contractors, and continue building the experience needed for professional licensure and future project leadership.

Responsibilities Electrical Design & Technical Support
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and design tasks with increasing independence.
  • Support the development of electrical plans, technical specifications, reports, permits, and construction documents.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles and applicable design standards to project assignments.
  • Use CADD, BIM, modeling, and other engineering design platforms to complete design and analysis tasks.
  • Conduct field investigations and inspections, collecting and interpreting information needed to support design and construction.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including field observation, documentation, and coordination with contractors and project teams.
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation, reports, memos, and correspondence.
Project Delivery & Quality
  • Take ownership of routine and recurring project assignments and anticipate upcoming project needs.
  • Monitor assigned task budgets and schedules and communicate progress, potential challenges, and changing priorities to Project Managers and Team Leaders.
  • Contribute to project quality through careful review of your own work and participation in team QA/QC processes.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, studies, evaluations, and assessments through data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Identify potential risks to project scope, schedule, budget, or quality and communicate them proactively.
  • Look for opportunities to improve project workflows and team efficiency.
Client & Team Collaboration
  • Maintain proactive communication with Project Managers, Team Leaders, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Participate in client meetings with increasing independence and contribute to technical discussions and project updates.
  • Coordinate professionally with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support preparation of client-facing materials and independently respond to routine project questions as appropriate.
  • Share technical knowledge and provide informal guidance to less-experienced staff.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment through communication, knowledge-sharing, and reliability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 2+ years of relevant post-graduate electrical engineering experience
  • EIT/FE certification based on applicable Florida state requirements
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and design practices
  • Experience with engineering design software and platforms applicable to electrical design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into accurate project deliverables
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and client correspondence
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple assignments
  • Ability to complete familiar assignments independently with limited supervision
  • Strong attention to quality, schedules, and project budgets
  • Willingness to support and share knowledge with junior staff
  • Ability to travel occasionally based on project needs

Benefits & Compensation

Salary Range: $70,000– $112,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates with significant experience may also be considered for a higher-level role with increased compensation.
