Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club's Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for managing the maintenance, agronomic health, playability, and overall conditions of the golf course and its surrounding grounds. Job Summary (Essential Functions) - Support the Director of Agronomy in planning, organizing, and directing all golf course maintenance operations, ensuring the course consistently meets the Club's standards for conditioning, playability, presentation, and safety.
- Oversee and manage the golf course maintenance team including scheduling, training, performance management, and ensuring alignment with relevant regulations, Club policies, and best practices.
- Oversee agronomic practices, monitor turfgrass health and course conditions, and proactively address issues.
- Collaborate with the Golf Operations team to support daily play, tournaments, events, and course setup to deliver consistently exceptional playing conditions.
- Support the Director of Agronomy with long-term initiatives, including capital improvements, agronomic projects, course improvements, and sustainability efforts.
- Manage the effective use of departmental resources including labor, equipment, water, materials, and other supplies.
- Assist with irrigation management using rainbird irrigation systems. Support pesticide and fertilizer applications in accordance with all relevant regulations and best practices. Manage daily assignments.
- Maintain detailed records of agronomic programs, equipment, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and maintain a high-performing agronomy team, fostering a culture of safety, excellence, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a visible presence with members, staff, vendors, and Club leadership, representing the Agronomy/Greens & Grounds department with exceptional hospitality and professionalism.
- Maintain detailed records of agronomic programs, equipment, and maintenance activities.
- Protect the Club's investment in the golf course, irrigation infrastructure, equipment, landscaping, and facilities through proactive maintenance and sound operational and agronomic practices.
- Utilize course observations, moisture data, weather conditions, irrigation performance, application records, and turf response to support informed, data-driven agronomic decision-making.
- Lead by example and foster a culture of professionalism, ownership, accountability, teamwork, and pride, ensuring employees understand both the work to be completed and the standards expected.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Agronomy Department and Club's operational objectives.
Qualifications - Education
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field preferred.

- California Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) or Qualified Applicator License (QAL), or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.

- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

- 3-5 years of progressive golf course maintenance experience, including supervisory experience.

- Experience leading a golf course maintenance team in a private club, resort, or similar environment.

- Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, agronomic practices, irrigation, plant protection, fertilization, and golf course maintenance practices.

- Strong understanding of course equipment and maintenance practices.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to learn and utilize departmental and organizational technology programs.

Work Schedule and Hours This is a full-time, exempt position requiring a flexible schedule based on course conditions, weather, staffing, tournaments, and Club events. Weekend and holiday availability is required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment This position requires frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and prolonged sun exposure. This position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds. This role also requires the ability to operate and work around turf maintenance equipment, vehicles, chemicals, fertilizers, and other materials. Compensation This is an exempt, salaried position with an annual salary range of $120,000-$140,000. Starting compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
