Full Job Description
We are seeking a Global Technical Documentation Control Program Manager who thinks in terms of scalable, interconnected systems. This strategic technical leader will establish and oversee a technical document control and governance framework spanning the entire lifecycle of our data center portfolio-from initial technical design and construction to L0-L6 commissioning, and long-term operational management. The successful candidate will also ensure this program aligns with corporate policies governing document and information management and retention schedules.

As the owner of our technical documentation program, you will bridge the gap between design engineering standards and operational reality. You will ensure that records for vital engineering assets-including electrical diagrams, control network schematics, Bill of Materials (BOMs), telemetry schemas, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs/MOPs)-are meticulously verified, version-controlled, and unified across our expanding global fleet.

Key Accountabilities

1. Design Stage Standards & Governance

  • Establish Document Control Governance: Architect, implement, and maintain a standardized global document control and governance framework defining how engineering specifications, technical drawings, and standard operational procedures are created, approved, versioned, and distributed.

  • Design Standards Feedback Loop: Oversee the structural process for capturing feedback during competitive bidding and Request for Information (RFI) periods. Analyze, compile, and prioritize shortcomings identified in project specs to systematically update and release future versions of our Master Design Standards.

  • Design Collaboration: Partner with internal design engineering teams and external design firms to influence design-for-serviceability and ensure standardized templates and procedures are baked into all project scopes of work (SOWs).

2. Commissioning & Construction Handoff (L0-L6)

  • Milestone Quality Assurance: Direct documentation tracking and quality assurance across all construction and L1-L5 commissioning phases, validating that testing and documents are verified, complete, accurate and under revision control before handover.

  • Ready For Service (RFS): Enforce strict handover criteria at the final Ready For Service (RFS) milestone, ensuring zero documentation gaps exist at the point of handoff to local operations and customer support teams.

  • As-Built Document Auditing: Act as the final gatekeeper for "As-Built" packages at the conclusion of L5 testing and as part of L6 closeouts.. Review and archive finalized vendor submittals, control schematics, asset inventories, global telemetry/MQTT topic maps, and client required documentation to ensure 100% completeness.

3. Lifecycle Management & Operations Alignment

  • Standardized Operational Procedures (SOPs/MOPs): Partner with Operations leaders and Technical Writers to develop highly precise, repeatable SOPs, MOPs, and safety standards for critical facility systems (including mechanical plants, UPS lineups, and industrial HVAC) that balance global standardization with localized site variables.

  • Asset Management Integration: Manage the central documentation library within SharePoint, integrating files directly with our InCommand platform to ensure physical hardware configurations match their digital "Source of Truth."

  • Maintenance & Obsolescence Databases: Support the Controls and Instrumentation teams by establishing tracking systems for sensor calibration certificates, equipment Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), and obsolescence planning databases.

Required Skills

  • Experience: 3+ years of direct experience in documentation control, program management, or technical writing within critical infrastructure environments (e.g., data centers, defense, pharmaceutical, utilities, or heavy manufacturing).

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a closely aligned Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or equivalent industry/military experience.

  • Systems & Software: Demonstrated mastery of Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS), SharePoint, and standard productivity tools (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio).

  • Engineering Literacy: Robust capability to read, interpret, and organize engineering drawings, electrical single-lines, control network schematics, and equipment Bill of Materials (BOM).

  • Analytical Execution: A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy, performing gap analyses on technical documentation, identifying process inefficiencies, and implementing structural improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Global Standardization: Proven track record of developing "Nationwide" or "Global" umbrella models for technical documentation and standards maintenance.

  • Controls Exposure: Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), industrial PLC/DDC systems.

  • Engineering Lifecycle Experience: Familiarity with the design lifecycle of engineering projects.

  • Agile Program Management: Comfort managing multiple fast-paced documentation pipelines across competing deadlines with stakeholders spanning regional construction, operations, and executive leadership.

  • Communication & Alignment: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively translate complex technical requirements into clear standards for vendors, operators, and executive stakeholders.
