Job Summary:

As the Global Senior Category Procurement Manager - General Engine Castings, you will develop and execute category strategies that drive cost competitiveness, supplier performance, quality, innovation, and supply continuity for critical cast component commodities supporting engine manufacturing operations worldwide.

This highly visible leadership role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Development, Finance, and Executive Leadership to create sustainable sourcing solutions while managing key supplier relationships and mitigating supply chain risks. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in global procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, category management, foundry operations, castings, machining, and heavy industrial manufacturing environments.

What You Will Do:
  • Develop and execute global category strategies for engine castings, cast iron components, cast steel components, foundry products, and machined castings.
  • Lead strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management activities.
  • Identify and deliver cost reduction, value engineering, productivity, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Build and manage relationships with global suppliers, foundries, and manufacturing partners.
  • Drive supplier quality, delivery performance, capacity planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams on new product introduction (NPI), product launches, and sourcing decisions.
  • Conduct market intelligence, commodity analysis, should-cost modeling, and benchmarking activities.
  • Support sustainability, supplier diversity, and responsible sourcing initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve procurement, supply chain, and operational objectives.
  • Manage global sourcing projects and executive-level stakeholder communications.


What You Will Have:
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Business Intelligence: Knowledge of business intelligence; ability to utilize business processes and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data that helps the organization make better business decisions.

Category Management: Knowledge of category management within an organization's goods and services sector; ability to use this knowledge to analyze and improve the end-to-end procurement process and maximize business profitability.

Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.

  • Up to 20% global travel


Summary Pay Range:

$159,120.00 - $238,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
