Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis is seeking a Director, Commercial Excellence to shape and lead our global commercial effectiveness strategy, aligned to our global commercial strategy. This role will define and drive enterprise-wide frameworks that enable our commercial teams to prioritize the right opportunities, enhance customer value, and deliver consistent, profitable growth.

Reporting to the VP, Global Commercial, this leader will partner closely with senior commercial leadership and regional teams to embed best-in-class commercial practices across a complex, global footprint.

Responsibilities
  • Set and drive a clear enterprise-wide commercial excellence vision, aligned with growth priorities, and translated into an actionable global agenda through strong senior leadership partnership.
  • Develop and standardize scalable commercial frameworks and end-to-end playbooks that drive consistency in pricing, sales execution, margin management and customer experience while reflecting complex market dynamics.
  • Ensure alignment to global standards while enabling regional customization, using influence and collaboration to balance consistency with local market needs.
  • Implement governance and KPI-driven performance tracking to drive accountability, monitor adoption, and proactively address gaps.
  • Strengthen global commercial capabilities through training, tools, and change management, with a focus on pricing and customer engagement.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and digital tools to continuously improve commercial practices, scale innovation, and foster a test-and-learn culture.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial, sales excellence, or strategy roles within industrial or manufacturing sectors
  • Shown success leading global transformation, standardization, or commercial excellence initiatives
  • Experience with CRM systems, analytics, and sales performance management tools
  • Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Executive presence with ability to influence senior partners and lead without authority
Preferred
  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent)
  • Experience designing commercial training and enablement programs
  • Background in aluminum, metals, or other commodity-based industries
