Full Job Description
Location: Wickliffe, OH or DeerPark, TX

Job Type: Full-time; Collaborate in person 4 days each week, with 1 flexible day.

How You'll Make an Impact:

As a Global Classification Analyst, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, maintaining our right to operate by ensuring consistent and compliant tariff classifications and engaging in tariff-related trade and manufacturing activities that maintain or improve our competitive advantage. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life.

This role works closely with internal parties including regional trade compliance, business leadership, Information Technology, and other supply chain departments. This role reports to the Global Process Owner - Classification and may have the opportunity to act as project lead.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as lead for self-audits and internal audits including identifying and implementing corrective action.
  • Assign classifications to raw materials, intermediates, complex research samples, and non-chemical items. Support other team members with questions and problem-solving regarding classification and associated processes.
  • Evaluate low-complexity internal and external classification challenges and questions.
  • Perform low-complexity alternative manufacturing request reviews and provide support to the lead for complex reviews.
  • Assign chemistry-based free trade agreement rules in low-complexity situations.
  • Assist and support the lead on authoring customs ruling requests by gathering data, documents, and other information necessary.
  • Evaluate complex Global Trade Services (GTS) system issues and improvements, and lead implementations of new solutions, including new or more complex procured tariff content files, and processes associated with classification metrics.
  • Evaluate and release SAP holds for moderate/high complexity system controls. Assist with the implementation of new SAP GTS controls, including testing, by working with the Global Process Owner, Process Leads, IT and business managers.


Required Qualifications that Enables Your Success:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in international trade with an emphasis on harmonized tariff classifications, import/export regulations, dual-use regulations and classification, and license submissions
  • Able to analyze required information for audits and assess compliance with regulations. Ability to identify issues and root cause.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in assigning tariff classifications of all complexities accurately and efficiently. Experience implementing low-complexity solutions and responses to internal and external challenges and questions.
  • Basic understanding of equivalency review processes and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of global tariff classification regulations, assignments and associated data requirements, attention to detail with a holistic mindset and strong organizational and project management skills.


Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward:

  • Experience supporting chemical or specialty chemical businesses, including classification of chemical substances, intermediates, and mixtures.
  • Certified Classification Specialist (CCLS).
  • Customs Broker License.
  • Experience working with SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), including tariff classification data, system controls, and trade compliance processes.
