Global Aerospace Supplier Quality Manager

In the Global Aerospace Supplier Quality Manager, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and continuous improvement of PPG Aerospace's global supplier quality strategy to ensure supplier compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements while improving supplier performance, operational excellence, and risk management across the global supply base.
In this role you will partner closely with Global Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Regional Quality teams to drive supplier quality excellence throughout the product lifecycle, from supplier qualification and new product introduction through production, continuous improvement, and customer support.
This is a Hybrid role reporting to any one of our Aerospace Facilities or Customer sites four days a week and working remotely on Friday’s. In this role you will report to the Aerospace Global Quality Director.
There is expected to be significant travel required as part of this role approximately 50%. This will include some local travel, domestic travel across sites in the United States as well as some limited international travel as determined by the business.
This role is part of our drive to make quality a competitive advantage for PPG by building trusted supplier partnerships, preventing defects before they occur, driving accountability through structured problem solving, and delivering products that consistently exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and continuously improve the global Supplier Quality strategy, aligning processes, governance, metrics, and best practices across North America, EMEA, and APAC to meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and lead a high-performing global Supplier Quality organization through direct and matrix leadership, coaching, talent development, and performance management.
- Partner with Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and Program Management to integrate supplier quality requirements throughout supplier selection, qualification, product introduction, engineering changes, and ongoing performance management.
- Drive supplier performance and capability improvements through KPIs, Supplier Business Reviews, corrective action programs, Lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and recovery plans for underperforming suppliers.
- Establish proactive supplier risk management and compliance programs, including supplier segmentation, business continuity planning, audits, and adherence to AS9100, AS9145, NADCAP, FAA, EASA, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead supplier quality assurance activities including APQP, PPAP, First Article Inspection (AS9102), production readiness reviews, audits, structured problem solving, corrective actions, defect prevention, SPC, FMEA, and process control initiatives.
- Leverage quality systems and data analytics to identify risks, monitor trends, support customer and regulatory audits, resolve critical supplier issues, and deliver measurable improvements in quality, cost, delivery, supplier capability, and overall supply chain performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Materials, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline) required.
- Eight (8) or more years of quality experience within aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing environments required.
- Five (5) or more years of Supplier Quality Leadership experience with demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives required.
- Experience with AS9100, AS9145, APQP, PPAP, AS9102, CAPA, RCCA, 8D, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and structured problem-solving methodologies required.
- Experience leading supplier qualification, supplier audits, supplier corrective actions, supplier performance improvement, and supplier risk management initiatives.
- Experience supporting global manufacturing operations and international supply chains.
- Knowledge of aerospace regulatory requirements including FAA, EASA, NADCAP, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Proven ability to analyze complex quality issues, manage competing priorities, and drive sustainable operational improvements through data-driven decision making.
- Lead Auditor certification highly preferred.
