Full Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a talented, energetic technology-minded Geographic Information System (GIS) professional for immediate employment in the Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton Installation Geospatial Information & Services (IGI&S) office as a seconded employee. The GIS Specialist is a full-time AECOM employee that will report to the Associate Vice President & GIS Sr Manager in the Technology Services Group and will support our United States Marine Corps (USMC) client within the Environment Business line. This position will lead a team of GIS Specialists supporting the MCB Camp Pendleton IGI&S Program with GIS data management, geospatial analysis and modeling, cartographic product development, and technical support. A successful candidate will work independently and in close coordination with the IGI&S manager and their staff to develop, deploy and support GIS across the installation. The position requires a professional with project management experience, a solid foundation in GIS, team leadership, project communication, and a commitment to quality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Perform data conversion, migration, and exploitation activities using advanced geospatial processing techniques - Gather, review, and report on technical requirements to meet project goals and implement quality assurance procedures - Prepare project plans to successfully execute assigned work - Work with junior staff to ensure quality in all work products and development technical quality review procedures - Work directly with government staff to plan for and execute mission objectives - Maintain quality assurance of spatial and non-spatial data and processes as per defined standards - Maintain expertise in existing and emerging GIS related software and technologies - Create and maintain GIS data in an ArcGIS enterprise environment - Apply attention to detail with proactive and resourceful problem-solving skills - Communicating and collaborating with the project manager, project team, and client stakeholders to understand and document system/solution requirements - Research and compile data from various sources - Develop visualizations and reports using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS Pro, or Portal for ArcGIS to effectively communicate findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders - Organize, document, and communicate status updates to program leaders and relevant project teams - Provide excellent team leadership, critical thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and analytical skills Qualifications Minimum Requirements - BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education - 2+ YORE of GIS project management experience - Valid Driver's License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review. - Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required Preferred Qualifications - Proficiency with applications such as: - ArcGIS Enterprise, Pro, and Desktop Software - Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D/AutoCAD Map - Experience with Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS - Experience with GPS data collection processes and the ability to lead teams in the field - Comfortable working outside and/or traveling occasionally to support field activities - Comfortable working in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment - Maintain expertise in existing and emerging geospatial software and technologies - Understanding of relational database organization, design, and functionality - Ability to learn and present best practices for data management including workflows, tools, governance models, and integration patterns - GIS data management, technical writing, and geodatabase design experience - Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles - Demonstrated experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) - Project management experience in the field of GIS - Experience leading a team of GIS professionals and excellent communication skills Additional Information - Relocation is not available for this position - Sponsorship is not available for this position Security Clearance - This offer is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a US Government issued security clearance or Position of Public Trust associated with this position. AECOM management will utilize its sole and absolute discretion in determining whether and how long to extend the security clearance timeframe based on AECOM GSS's business needs. If not already hired prior, employment will commence within 45 days of being granted eligibility for access to classified information at a level that allows performance on the tasks or services associated with the contract or USG requirement for which hired.
