About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 15+ years of experience in engineering management related to the transportation industry, including at least 5 years in Georgia preferred
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Proven business development experience in the transportation industry, with a strong track record in the Georgia marketplace
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly, including local field and office sites
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to generate new business opportunities with transportation clients in Georgia and surrounding states
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to plan and conceptualize strategically

About the Role

As the CEI Department Leader, you will:

  • Lead the development and execution of Gresham Smith's CEI services business plans for growth, recruiting, staff development, profitability, and project performance
  • Drive transportation strategic planning to identify market capabilities, investment needs, pursuit strategies, and teaming opportunities
  • Focus on leadership and activities primarily in Georgia, while supporting transportation efforts across the broader geography
  • Report to the Georgia State Transportation Leader and coordinate with state management, technical service leads, market leadership, other state leaders, and Georgia departments
  • Lead business opportunities with existing and prospective clients
  • Build and maintain client relationships, developing new business opportunities
  • Implement and execute the CEI business plan
  • Lead business development efforts including proposal content coordination and travel as necessary
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop top talent to foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment
  • Provide strong project management leadership ensuring timely, on-budget, and quality project delivery
  • Oversee daily operations and balance workload distribution to optimize resources and project outcomes
  • Collaborate regularly with state transportation leaders, agencies, and stakeholders to strengthen relationships
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to maintain competitive positioning
  • Serve as a visible leader representing the company at industry events, client meetings, and internal forums
  • Travel locally and regionally as required
  • Serve as an advisor on public and private projects regionally, supporting strategic planning, marketing, proposals, and interviews
  • Work cooperatively with market leadership to achieve defined goals related to sales, cost, profit, project schedules, and quality
