About this opportunity:

The Geomatics Analyst is a key member of the Earthworks & Seismic team, responsible for supporting commercial development and project execution through advanced GIS analysis, spatial data management, footprint optimization, and technology-driven planning solutions. This role collaborates closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders including Surface Land, Drilling, Environmental, Survey, Construction, Operations, and Field teams to support the planning and delivery of both Commercial and Integrated Winter Program projects.

The successful candidate will leverage GIS technologies, automation tools, spatial analytics, and earthworks planning expertise to identify cost-effective, risk-conscious development opportunities while improving project execution efficiency. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into actionable business decisions are essential.

This position is located at our Calgary office with limited field travel as required.

What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support Commercial Development and Integrated Winter Program initiatives through footprint planning, cost analysis, survey coordination, and civil earthworks execution
  • Optimize project footprints using cross-functional collaboration, GIS, spatial analysis, and data-driven tools to identify cost-effective, low-risk development alternatives
  • Conduct value-driven economic analyses to evaluate project decisions, reduce costs, and improve efficiency
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment on project footprints, planning, scheduling, and execution while balancing competing priorities and timelines
  • Provide GIS technical expertise and develop web-based applications, field data systems, automation, and workflows to improve project planning and operational efficiency
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and building alignment
  • Develop and maintain GIS-based applications, automation tools, and spatial workflows using desktop and web-based GIS technologies to improve earthworks planning, execution efficiency, and data quality
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through project reviews, lessons learned, and lookback processes while maintaining accurate spatial and non-spatial data
  • Ensure project execution complies with Cenovus safety practices and applicable environmental, regulatory, and industry requirements


Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Degree or Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Understanding of earthworks construction practices and field execution, with knowledge of seismic industry planning, surveying, access, environmental, and regulatory considerations
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, accountability, and continuous learning skills
