Full Job Description
A Snapshot of Your Day

As Generator Factory Service Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team of experienced generator rotor and exciter engineers who are passionate about providing rapid and innovative solutions to repair and modernize customer-owned power generation equipment. You will collaborate on the assessment of customer-owned large (>100 MVA) synchronous generators and exciters received at the Siemens Energy Charlotte Hub manufacturing facility. Whether supporting unplanned outages or planning future projects, you will develop customer-oriented solutions for modernization or repair of generators and exciters with colleagues across disciplines.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • You will play a crucial role in helping our customers return generation assets to service by developing detailed design assessments, analysis, and engineering instructions.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to provide technical advice, cooperative problem-solving, disposition of product deviations, and execution of design improvements.
  • Perform reverse engineering as necessary to support a wide range of customers and their equipment.
  • Provide customers with the support and information needed to determine the best path to return equipment to operation.
  • Assess customer-owned equipment and issue engineering instructions to support manufacturing operations related to the service repair of generator rotor and exciter products.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; candidates with an Electrical Engineering degree and appropriate experience will also be considered.
  • 2+ years of related engineering experience required, with a preference for experience supporting synchronous generator rotors, exciters, and/or other rotating equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and across engineering, management, and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or experience supporting a manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software and IT tools; experience with SAP, Teamcenter, and NX is a plus.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
