Job Summary
The Generation Lead Outage oversees all aspects of power plant maintenance planning and scheduling, including outage planning and execution, budget management, preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and the coordination and execution of O&M and capital projects. This role is also responsible for workforce and contractor management to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and foster a professional, cohesive, and mutually supportive team of assigned NIPSCO employees and contractors to effectively achieve departmental goals and operational excellence.
  • Apply knowledge of overall maintenance direction, policies, and management principles to ensure maintenance activities are executed consistently and in support of business goals.
  • Evaluate and prioritize maintenance activities by balancing benefits, costs, and operational impacts to support organizational objectives and asset reliability.
  • Make informed, balanced decisions through collaboration with engineering and operations resources to achieve operational excellence, safety, and business objectives.
  • Monitors and controls schedule to ensure that work is completed on time and within budget with acceptable quality while achieving the customer success criteria.
  • Manages and resolves conflicts in scope, schedule, and budget to the overall benefit of Generation.
  • Actively participates in the safety process to maintain a safe work environment. Directs programs to ensure safe work practices are implemented and work is conducted in compliance with regulations and Company procedures, and unsafe equipment conditions are corrected.
  • Directs maintenance schedulers to ensure that local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards are met.
  • Establishes expectations and review and evaluate performance throughout the year. Individually work with supervisors to enhance their leadership qualities, working knowledge of electric production, cross-functional capability and motivational skills.
  • Ensures schedulers are properly trained to meet the operating needs of plant operating departments.
  • Provide on-call support and respond to emergency situations outside regular working hours as necessary to protect personnel safety, system reliability, and operational performance.

Required Qualifications For Position

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years generating station leadership experience in maintenance, operations or Engineering
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule and provide leadership support for a 24-hour, 7-day operation, including responding to emergent plant, outage, and operational issues outside normal business hours as needed.
  • Proven technical knowledge and understanding of fossil fueled electric power production.
  • Strong organizational / planning skills, strong written and oral communication and team building skills.
  • Ability to effectively manager several projects at a time.
  • US Drivers License

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • 4 year technical degree in engineering

Salary Range*:

$113,500.00 - $170,300.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to thecandidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
