General Sales Manager (Automotive)Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Sales Manager to lead our automotive sales team and drive dealership performance. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong track record in automotive sales management, team development, customer satisfaction, and profitability. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sales department, including new and pre-owned vehicle sales, sales processes, inventory management, performance coaching, and achieving revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing sales team to achieve and exceed sales objectives.
- Manage daily operations of the sales department, ensuring efficiency and adherence to dealership standards.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate sales managers and sales consultants.
- Monitor sales performance metrics, establish goals, and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
- Collaborate with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) department to optimize customer experience and dealership revenue.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and inventory levels to develop effective sales strategies.
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and address escalated customer concerns when necessary.
- Oversee inventory management and vehicle merchandising to support sales objectives.
- Conduct regular sales meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, community partners, and manufacturer representatives.
- Forecast sales volumes and prepare reports for executive leadership.
Qualifications- Minimum of 5 years of automotive sales management experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven success in achieving sales targets and driving dealership profitability.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service abilities.
- Knowledge of automotive retail operations, CRM systems, desking tools, and dealership management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Preferred Skills- Experience managing both new and used vehicle operations.
- Strong understanding of digital retailing and lead management processes.
- Ability to interpret financial statements and departmental KPIs.
- Experience with manufacturer programs and performance standards.
