About the Role:
We are seeking a commercial General Manager (office and retail) who takes pride in elevating tenant experiences while maintaining excellent property standards at Postmedia Place. In this management position, you will take ownership of site performance, overseeing daily operations, steering property finances and preventive maintenance, while leading a high-performing team of site team members and building operators. You will play a central role in driving occupancy, managing vendor relationships, and safeguarding asset value, drive tenant engagement, streamline processes, and lead operations.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain property standards across the building, managing tenant inquiries, resolving operational issues, and cultivating a exceptional tenant experience.
- Oversee daily property function, perform regular inspections of physical grounds and vacant units, execute preventive maintenance schedules (HVAC, elevators), identify deficiencies and manage emergency protocols.
- Prepare annual operating budgets, capital expenditure program, manage variance reports, analyze monthly general ledgers, authorize purchase orders, and meet key performance indicators for occupancy and revenue.
- Stay on top of industry knowledge of market rents/lease rates, market conditions, competitor information and identify market risks, while working with brokers to best market the property.
- Direct, mentor, and evaluate site staff across administration and building operations, fostering collaboration, and managing performance.
- Lead the tendering process for vendor services, supervise contracted work for quality and cost-effectiveness, and ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety, WHMIS, AODA, and municipal bylaws.

You are an experienced commercial property leader and strong relationship-builder who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads with accountability, and is passionate about maintaining a strong sense of community. You bring a proactive mindset, deep operational and financial acumen, strong understanding of the commercial leasing environment and proven experience leading site teams. With a strong grasp of property budgeting, preventive maintenance, and vendor oversight, you excel at balancing exceptional tenant satisfaction with overall business performance and asset value.
- 7+ years of property management experience with demonstrated success overseeing high-performing commercial assets, specifically across both retail and office portfolios.
- Experienced in annual budget development, financial reporting, variance analysis, and managing property operational costs.
- Skilled in property management systems (Yardi and MRI work order software) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong working knowledge of local property standards, occupational health and safety, WHMIS, AODA, and the Privacy Act.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to make sound decisions, manage priorities under tight deadlines, and resolve complex challenges.
- Post-secondary education is considered an asset; a valid driver's license is required.

Compensation Package: $125,000 - $150,000 CAD annually, plus discretionary bonus eligibility.
The above is our target compensation range for this role. Compensation is determined by your individual experience, skills, education, and other organizational needs.
