Full Job Description
Position: Senior Manager - Facilities & Real Estate Location: On-site - Ottawa, Canada Lead the delivery of workplace, facilities, and real estate solutions across Ciena's Ottawa campus and broader Canadian portfolio. This role serves as the primary client-facing leader for Corporate Real Estate, Workplace Services, and associated operational programs, driving business alignment, workplace optimization, and service excellence. Success in this position requires strong stakeholder engagement, strategic decision-making, and the ability to influence outcomes across diverse functions and external partners. How you will make an impact: • Build and maintain trusted relationships with regional, campus, and country stakeholders through a consistent engagement model and serve as the primary point of contact for workplace and real estate matters. • Drive alignment between local business requirements and global workplace objectives by translating client needs into actionable solutions and initiatives. • Lead workplace, facilities, and real estate projects from requirements gathering through funding approval, execution, and stakeholder sign-off. • Optimize space utilization by evaluating occupancy data, conducting workplace reviews, approving move requests, and resolving escalations. • Partner with cross-functional teams including HR, IT, Finance, Security, and Risk Management to advance business priorities and workplace initiatives. • Champion environmental health, safety, sustainability, and workplace compliance programs across the assigned portfolio. • Influence service provider performance, operational planning, change initiatives, and workplace adoption strategies to enhance employee experience. The must haves: • Education: BSc, BA, MSc, MA, or a comparable credential in a relevant discipline. • Experience: 12+ years of experience in corporate real estate, facilities management, workplace services, or related industry roles. • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with senior leaders, clients, partners, and cross-functional stakeholders. • Strong leadership, consulting, communication, presentation, and team management capabilities. • Knowledge of finance, budgeting, occupancy planning, and analytical approaches used to evaluate complex business issues. • Comprehensive understanding of the corporate real estate lifecycle and expertise in multiple workplace or real estate disciplines. • Ability to work on-site from Ciena's Ottawa campus. Nice to haves: • Active membership in CoreNet Global. • Completion of, or progress toward, the Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR) designation. • Experience working within a large global organization with regional and international stakeholders. • Background managing outsourced facilities or real estate service providers. • Experience leading workplace transformation or large-scale change management initiatives. • Knowledge of industry workplace trends and innovative workplace solutions. • Experience contributing to sustainability and environmental stewardship programs. Pay Range: The pay range for this position, in Ottawa, is: $110,000.00 - $175,600.00 #Li-JD Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
