SUMMARY

The General Manager will oversee the complete P&L and operations of a privately owned ready-mix concrete production company. This hands-on, strategic leader will drive business growth, manage operating costs, and foster a high-performance culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will integrate sales, finance, and operations while maintaining exceptional customer relationships and ensuring the highest safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards across all sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leadership & Culture: Lead, coach, and foster a culture of service, accountability, and continuous improvement. Set clear expectations, assess direct reports' skills, and celebrate team wins.
  • Business Growth & Relationship Management: Drive new business development and support existing key accounts. Resolve escalated customer issues and ensure the highest standards of service and trust-based relationships.
  • Operational & Financial Oversight: Oversee operations, dispatch, billing, and quality control to ensure seamless project delivery. Manage the company's operating costs (P&L) and collaborate with senior management to evaluate and develop operational strategies.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all production sites meet or exceed Company and Division Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) goals and objectives.
  • Efficiency & Productivity: Develop and execute strategies to reduce costs, trend operating unit performance against business goals, and improve productivity through capital and personnel management.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: BA/BS degree in Engineering, Management, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience. An advanced degree or MBA is highly preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven managerial and supervisory skills, with expertise in budgeting, personnel development, talent recruitment, site development, regulatory practices, and long-range planning.
  • Industry Knowledge: Highly desirable knowledge of construction material production methods, ready-mix products, and industry-specific technology, with a strong drive to become an expert in the Ohio ready-mix concrete market.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and trend operating unit performance against key business goals, taking decisive action when results deviate from objectives.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to interface with all levels of personnel and coordinate across sales, marketing, finance, and operations to maximize divisional performance.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office products.
  • Procurement: Familiarity with modern purchasing and procurement practices.
