Position Summary:

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, profitability, and operational performance of the assigned Outdoor Equipment Co. location. This role oversees all dealership departments including Sales, Parts, Service, and Administration while ensuring the location operates in alignment with OECo's core values of Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Fun.

The General Manager drives revenue growth, maintains strong customer satisfaction, develops employees, and ensures operational processes are followed across all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of all dealership departments.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop team members.
  • Conduct regular department meetings to review performance and priorities.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment aligned with OECo culture.
  • Ensure accountability of departments through performance tracking and follow-up.
  • Support employee development and training opportunities.
Financial Performance
  • Drive overall dealership profitability and revenue growth.
  • Monitor departmental financial performance including sales, parts, service, and labor margins.
  • Review key performance indicators including gross profit, departmental margins, absorption rate, inventory turns, and labor efficiency.
  • Work with leadership to implement strategies that improve financial performance.
Sales Department Oversight
  • Ensure sales team achieves revenue and margin objectives.
  • Monitor major unit inventory levels and ensure aged inventory is addressed.
  • Oversee pricing strategies and promotional activities.
  • Ensure proper use of CRM tools and customer follow-up systems.
  • Maintain strong relationships with OEM manufacturers and vendors.
Parts Department Oversight
  • Ensure parts inventory levels support sales and service operations.
  • Monitor parts gross margin and inventory turns.
  • Ensure accurate receiving, stocking, and inventory management procedures.
  • Address aged inventory and support clearance initiatives.
Service Department Oversight
  • Ensure service department operates efficiently and profitably.
  • Monitor technician productivity and labor efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate service quoting, scheduling, and customer communication.
  • Support service department growth through improved processes and training.
Inventory Management
  • Maintain proper levels of major unit and parts inventory.
  • Monitor aged inventory and implement plans to move slow-moving units.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and leadership regarding inventory strategy.
  • Ensure accurate inventory counts and periodic audits.
Customer Experience
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction across all departments.
  • Address escalated customer concerns and resolve issues quickly.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture within the dealership.
Operational Management
  • Ensure dealership policies and procedures are followed.
  • Oversee daily store operations including facility appearance and safety.
  • Maintain compliance with company and manufacturer policies.
  • Ensure proper use of dealership systems such as Lightspeed EVO, CRM, and internal reporting tools.
Community & Brand Representation
  • Represent Outdoor Equipment Co. within the local community.
  • Support OECo marketing initiatives and local events.
  • Promote OECo's brand and culture both internally and externally.
Performance Metrics
  • Overall dealership profitability
