Position Title: General Manager
Reports to: Area President
FLSA: Salaried, Exempt
Revision Date: 9/2025

Position Summary:
The General Manager is accountable for the operations and financial results of a branch profit center. This position is responsible for managing a team of office and field employees, developing long-term customer and supplier relationships, and overseeing core business processes including safety, sales, estimating, project execution, and collections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Fully implement the company safety program and be responsible for a safe workplace
• Hire, develop, and manage branch personnel, delegating responsibilities to them as appropriate
• Promote harmonious labor relations
• Develop strategic plans and budgets that drive both short-term and long-term success of branch operations, branch personnel, and the overall company
• Build a reputation in the local market as a preferred contractor that can be trusted to perform quality work, provide attentive customer service, and follow through on commitments
• Oversee the sales strategy for the market, concentrating on the selection of quality customers and decisions about what kind of work to perform and how to price and pursue opportunities
• Ensure the successful execution of all jobs, in terms of safety, quality, schedule, and profitability
• Prepare and review high-risk bids with the Area President and other company leadership as required
• Supervise change order pricing and documentation of changes and impacts in a timely manner
• Ensure that monthly billings are completed accurately and timely
• Ensure that receivables are collected timely and that bad debt write-offs are minimized
• Ensure that branch operations are administered efficiently and effectively
• Ensure that all branch personnel follow company policies and procedures
• Ensure that job and employee documentation is organized and retained per company policy
• Oversee monthly profit recognition for the branch, in collaboration with corporate accounting
• Ensure that estimating rates and labor studies for the branch are kept current

Skills and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Good problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under time constraints to meet deadlines
• Previous sales experience in commercial and/or industrial contracting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with good attention to detail
• Proficiency with estimating software and other relevant software tools
• Ability to interpret drawings, architectural/mechanical plans, and flow diagrams
• Familiarity with construction project management practices
• Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, and related construction documentation

Education/Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 7+ years of estimating or construction management experience

Travel: Occasional travel may be required, as needed, to job sites and various business meetings.
