Job Description

Dewberry iscurrently seeking a Mechanical Construction Engineer to join our Construction Services Department. This individual will work on projects for various public clients in New York and New Jersey. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join a team of outstanding professionals. Construction Management and Inspection Services on Projects mainly involving municipal infrastructure improvements that may include pump stations.

Responsibilities
  • Individual must be proactive in identifying field issues and developing solutions to keep the work moving.
  • Review construction plans and specifications, inspect public infrastructure projects including roadways, bridges, utilities and structures to determine compliance with Contract documents as well as applicable local, state, and national codes.
  • Prepare and process construction records, including RFIs, submittals, progress pay applications, extra work billings, and contract change orders.
  • Ability to document all field activities, work in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor and represent Dewberry and our clients in the highest capacity.
  • Familiarity with common computer programs such as MS Word and Excel for completing daily diaries, quantity calculations and other required tasks.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • 2 years experience inspecting construction work required
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is required. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering is preferred
  • NICET II or Engineer-in-Training certification preferred.
  • Must be able and willing to work day and night shifts and extended working hours as needed.
  • Trained in OSHA 10-hour construction safety, fall protection, confined space and permit required confined space entry preferred.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to repetitively stoop, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 25 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $45-$52 hourly. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
