Full Job Description
The General Manager is charged with leading and developing a team of Terminal Managers throughout the West region. Reporting to the Group Vice President, the General Manager will spearhead operations at multiple locations with an emphasis focused on safety, engagement, maintenance, train performance and productivity. The incoming candidate will be expected to be in their assigned facilities in the West region on a regular basis, as such travel is required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and drives terminal strategies through people, process and systems
  • Drives safety and continuous improvement culture
  • Builds collaborative partnerships between ConGlobal and local railroad officers to problem solve and improve terminal performance
  • Establish performance goals and standards for team
  • Responsible for the selection, training and development of management team to ensure customers' needs are met
  • Collaborate with safety team to ensure timely reporting and investigation of all injuries and accidents and all incidents that have the potential for serious harm
  • Partners with Terminal Managers to ensure KPIs are met; train performance, cost per hour, etc.
  • Partners with all employees to drive employee engagement, development and retention
  • Ensures continued excellence in safety, profitability and service
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • High School diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in intermodal, transportation, logistics or warehousing operations
  • 5+ years Terminal Manager experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees and customers is required
  • Working knowledge and experience with lean systems including kaizen events, KPIs and metrics
  • Financial management experience (i.e. budgeting, forecasting etc.) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Web Based Data systems
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Travel required
