General Manager - Networking.We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented leader of Toyota Motor North America's networking technology and services group. This strategic leadership role requires an individual who can blend deep technical expertise with executive business acumen to manage all facets of our large-scale, high-performance network. The ideal candidate will be a catalyst for innovation, driving modernization through automation, cloud integration, and SDN technologies, while upholding the highest standards of reliability across North American environments.
The primary responsibility of this role is executive leadership for delivering enterprise grade network and network-related services across a very large enterprise spanning the North America region and diverse facility types (offices, plants, distribution, data centers, cloud, etc.), as well as global connectivity to the broader company's private networks. This role will be the primary regional leader for networking capabilities, with significant influence in direction setting and technology models for global Toyota.
This position reports to the Vice President of OneTech for Technical Architecture, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Developer Experience which focuses on building and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient systems.
This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you'll be doing - Scope of Responsibility
- Enterprise WAN backbone and carrier strategy
- SD-WAN overlays and underlay transport optimization
- Campus and plant LAN architecture including high-availability core, distribution, and access layers
- Wireless infrastructure supporting manufacturing, robotics, IoT, and corporate mobility
- Data center networking including spine-leaf, EVPN-VXLAN, high-speed interconnects, and load balancing
- Multi-cloud connectivity across AWS, Azure, and GCP including Direct Connect and ExpressRoute architectures
- DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and core network services
- Remote access and zero trust network access platforms
- Network observability, telemetry, and automation platforms
- Enterprise Accountability
- Own end-to-end performance, reliability, and resilience of all North America network services
- Deliver enterprise-grade availability across manufacturing and mission-critical environments
- Serve as executive escalation leader during major service disruptions or cyber events
- Provide clear risk, performance, and investment reporting to senior leadership
- Strategy and Modernization
- Develop and execute a three-to-four-year network strategy aligned to business growth, manufacturing expansion, cloud-first adoption, and cybersecurity objectives
- Lead modernization across LAN, WAN, WLAN, data center, wireless, SDN, SD-WAN, and multi-cloud networking
- Accelerate adoption of zero trust network access and advanced segmentation architectures
- Expand automation using Python, Ansible, Terraform, AI-assisted operations, and predictive analytics to reduce operational toil and improve recovery times
- Operations and Service Excellence
- Lead 24 by 7 network operations teams with clear service level objectives and continuous improvement disciplines
- Improve mean time to detect and recover through observability, automation, and disciplined change management
- Embed Toyota Production System principles into network engineering and service delivery practices
- Financial and Supplier Leadership
- Manage an annual budget exceeding 60 million dollars with strong financial discipline and cost optimization
- Own strategic supplier relationships across telecom carriers, hardware vendors, and service providers.
- Drive value realization from contracts and technology investments.
- Talent and Organization
- Lead and develop a geographically distributed organization of more than 150 professionals.
- Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline.
- Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous development.
What you bring - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in Network Engineering and Services Management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role over large enterprise networks.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven expertise with networking and services solutions from Cisco, F5, Palo Alto Networks, Infoblox, AT&T, etc.
- Certifications: Possession of industry-recognized professional certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, and relevant cloud networking certification (e.g., AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty).
- Automation Skills: Demonstrated experience implementing network automation solutions utilizing scripting languages like Python or configuration management tools such as Ansible.
Added bonus if you have - Master's Degree: A Master of Science in a technology-related field.
- ITSM Framework Knowledge: ITIL certification or practical experience operating within a formal IT Service Management framework for incident and change management.
- Specific Platform Experience: Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale, diverse networks based on Cisco SDN solutions.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience working within the automotive manufacturing, logistics, or related large-scale enterprise environments subject to high availability demands (99.99%+ uptime requirements).
