The General Manager is responsible for overall Planning, Organizing, leading, and controlling (P-O-L-C) functions of the facility. In addition, the General Manager will manage all aspects of the P-O-L-C framework with the goal of leading the facility and staff to meet budget, revenue, and customer satisfaction standards. Through a thorough understanding of Copart policies and practices, the General Manager will create a customer first environment for internal and external customers by offering unique and innovative solutions that meet customer needs while maintaining company standards for policy, quality, and service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Partner with HR to attract, recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing team
- Train and develop staff to meet company guidelines and expectations
- Maintain consistent, positive communication and deliver timely CIS reviews
- Lead with an innovative, creative, and inspirational management style
- Hold staff accountable with fairness and consistency to drive performance
- Build a highly engaged team that supports execution, innovation, and growth
- Demonstrate high integrity in all decisions and interactions
- Proactively manage performance and address issues quickly
- Oversee daily facility operations and act as SME across all process areas
- Manage both office and yard operations effectively
- Recruit and maintain sub-haulers to support logistics needs
- Ensure compliance with System, Field, Equipment, and Safety Reviews
- Escalate risks impacting the facility, employees, or customers to leadership
- Set goals and ensure employees use tools to achieve success
- Maintain compliance with local, state, EPA, OSHA, and DMV regulations
- Share key information to ensure transparency on goals and initiatives
- Manage relationships with buyers, sellers, and internal stakeholders
- Identify skill gaps and implement development plans
- Represent company mission, vision, values, and culture
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Support CAT events locally or nationally as needed
- Understand and manage P&L, identifying revenue and cost opportunities
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of management, military, or relevant experience preferred
- Proven ability to drive operational excellence and meet corporate goals
