SUMMARY
The General Manager of operations is a highly visible leadership role. This individual is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operation, compliance, and financial results for a designated operation. The General Manager ("GM") will serve as a primary customer interface for all leadership decisions regarding proposal approval and contract negotiations. This role is the Champion of overseeing local continuous improvement activities, LEAN practices, supply chain analysis, six sigma initiatives, and ISO activities. The "GM" will also develop marketing plans and assist in growing new business. He/she will also ensure that the operation adheres to the overall corporate mission, vision, and core values while consistently meeting client and company expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
30 Accountable for overseeing manpower, recruiting, retention, and development of people for the operation in his/her scope of responsibility
30 Ensures that procedures exist at all sites to guarantee client service, productivity, as well as facilities and equipment maintenance
30 Sets goals to provide continuous improvement for assigned site
Safety
30 Responsible for the overall safety and security of assigned operations and staff
30 Maintain positive IFR statistics and other safety metrics for assigned operation
30 Actively support and oversee site safety programs and committees for the operation
30 Work in conjunction with company and client safety resources to ensure best practices are in place, maintained, and updated as needed to meet compliance standards with OSHA, DOT, or any other relevant regulatory agency or organization
Labor Management
30 Develops teams to achieve company and client objectives for the operation
30 Trains and educates management to ensure that service requirements are met and ultimately exceeded
30 Communicates the mission, vision, and core values to motivate direct reports
30 Actively supports and practices mentoring, succession planning, and management development activities at the site level
Management Information System
30 Proactively develops plans and capital requests to ensure appropriate level of automation/technology to service the client
30 Stays abreast of industry trends and latest WMS technology
Budgeting
30 Partners with senior leadership to develop and recommend annual operating budget for assigned operation
30 Develops and manages a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters for the operation
30 Ensures that all accounts achieve predetermined profit standards
Customer Service
30 Acts as site level champion of client relationship management
30 Assists in setting standards appropriate to client and scope of work
30 Implements and monitors KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for assigned operation
30 Coordinates and leads business reviews with appropriate client and company representatives for each reporting operation
Miscellaneous
30 Participates in local trade, professional, and civic associations as a representative of the company
OTHER DUTIES
30 Performs other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
30 Responsible for Operations Managers, Supervisors and other leadership roles as assigned for the specific operation
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
30 High School Diploma or GED is required
30 Budgeting and P&L management experience required
30 At least 3 years of experience in an operations management related position
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills
30 Basic understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
30 Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications
Language Skills
30 English (reading, writing, verbal)
Mathematical Skills
30 Advanced level expertise required in accounting and financial mathematical applications as related to managing a P&L and preparing site/operational budgets
Other
30 The ability to develop effective relationships (CRM), provide leadership, and integrate diverse organizations and individuals toward unifying objectives is critical
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
30 4-Year College Degree preferred, will consider equivalent experience or combination of education and experience
30 Prefer 5 years' experience in a leadership role in a logistics/distribution/supply chain environment in an operations management capacity
30 Varied industry vertical experience is preferred
30 3PL management experience strongly preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision.
30 Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, reach, and climb. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Must be able to stand for several hours per day to perform required job duties as required by the nature of the business that is supported.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
30 Working conditions are normal for a warehouse environment. Exposure to changing warehouse temperatures is possible.

30 Travel may be required, determined by business needs
For this position, the expected base pay range is $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 . Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
