About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Consultant - Microsoft Security Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Purview and AI Data Protection to help clients design, implement, and operationalize secure data governance programs.

This role combines technical engineering, security architecture, consulting, and client advisory responsibilities. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping organizations protect sensitive data while enabling AI innovation across Microsoft 365, Copilot, Fabric, Azure AI, and emerging agent-based solutions.

You will work directly with client stakeholders to assess risks, implement security controls, establish governance frameworks, and build operating models that enable responsible AI adoption.

What You'll Do

Lead Microsoft Purview Architecture & Configuration

• Design and implement Microsoft Purview Information Protection solutions.
• Configure and optimize Microsoft Purview capabilities, including sensitivity labels, Data Loss Prevention, Data Lifecycle Management, Records Management, Insider Risk Management, eDiscovery, Communication Compliance, audit and investigation capabilities, and policy management for agents through Microsoft Agent 365.

• Deploy enterprise-scale information protection strategies across Microsoft 365 workloads.

Secure AI and Copilot Environments

• Assess AI security risks and design controls that prevent oversharing, data leakage, and unauthorized access across Microsoft 365 Copilot and custom AI applications.
• Configure Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for AI.
• Develop AI governance and protection strategies for enterprise data.
• Support secure deployment of Copilot, Copilot Studio, Fabric, and agent-based solutions.

Develop Enterprise Data Security Programs

• Conduct data protection assessments and security maturity evaluations.
• Define classification, labeling, and data handling standards.
• Design operating models for data governance and information security.
• Establish controls that align business requirements with security and compliance objectives.

Integrate Microsoft's Security Ecosystem

• Architect solutions spanning:

• Microsoft Purview

• Microsoft Entra
• Microsoft Defender
• Microsoft Sentinel
• Microsoft Intune
• Security Copilot

• Ensure data security initiatives align with identity, device, and threat protection strategies.

Advise Clients and Stakeholders

• Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions.
• Present technical and business recommendations to executive leadership.
• Develop implementation roadmaps and strategic security initiatives aligned with Zero Trust and Responsible AI principles.
• Translate complex security concepts into business outcomes and actionable recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience implementing Microsoft Purview solutions.

• Deep expertise in: Sensitivity Labels, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Data Classification, Information Protection, Data Lifecycle Management, Records Management, eDiscovery, Insider Risk Management
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance architecture.
• Experience designing solutions for regulated industries.
• Understanding of security frameworks such as: NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls
• Strong consulting and client-facing communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience securing Microsoft 365 Copilot deployments.
• Experience with: DSPM for AI, AI governance frameworks, Agentic AI security, Microsoft Fabric governance, Security Copilot, Microsoft Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Entra Identity Governance, Agent 365

• Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and modern security operating models.

Certifications

Preferred certifications include: SC-400 Microsoft Information Protection Administrator, SC-401 Protect Sensitive Information with Microsoft Purview, SC-300 Identity and Access Administrator, SC-200 Security Operations Analyst, AZ-500 Azure Security Engineer, Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert

Hybrid/In office: We are hybrid but there are expectations that if your team leader or client requires you onsite that you are able to meet those expectations/requirements

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the expected base salary pay range is $109,000 to $150,000. In addition, there is potential for a 10% discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation will depend upon individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
