Job Description

Manager, Operations - Sales and Marketing Technology

You will report to the Director, Operations - Sales and Marketing Technology and work alongside specialists in Salesforce, vendor management, marketing technology, and campaign operations. You will also partner with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Information Technology, Business Operations, Procurement, Security, Data, and other enabling functions.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can move comfortably between business problems and technology solutions. You will help identify opportunities, facilitate discovery, design improved processes, translate needs into actionable requirements, and deliver changes across a broad sales and marketing technology portfolio. You will also provide hands-on platform support and configuration when needed.

You do not need to be an expert in every platform. We value strong sales and marketing technology or GTM operations experience, curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to quickly understand how processes, data, platforms, and people fit together.

The Manager title in this role does not include direct people-management responsibilities.

What You'll Do

Improve sales and marketing operations
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and operations stakeholders to identify opportunities to simplify and improve how work gets done.
  • Map current-state processes, identify friction and failure points, and help design scalable future-state workflows.
  • Translate business needs into practical improvements across process, data, platforms, automation, and user experience.
  • Help design and improve lead generation, qualification, routing, campaign, and sales-process capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work and improve processes through emerging technologies, including AI.
  • Use stakeholder feedback, operational data, and business outcomes to evaluate whether changes are working and identify opportunities for continued improvement.

Shape and deliver platform improvements
  • Lead discovery and requirements conversations with sales, marketing, operations, and technology stakeholders.
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into clear process designs, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, configuration plans, and sequenced backlog items.
  • Own and refine backlog items, ensuring work is appropriately scoped and that dependencies, assumptions, risks, and tradeoffs are surfaced early.

  • Recommend practical solutions that balance user needs, business value, technical complexity, scalability, and available platform capabilities.
  • Configure and improve platforms directly using supported administrative and low-code capabilities.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, defect resolution, release preparation, demonstrations, and post-release validation.
  • Partner with IT and technical specialists when solutions require integrations, custom development, security review, DevSecOps, data engineering, or enterprise architecture.
  • Create and maintain practical documentation for processes, configurations, workflows, decisions, releases, and operational handoffs.

Manage and improve a broad technology portfolio
  • Work across multiple sales and marketing platforms based on business priorities rather than remaining limited to a single application.
  • Develop practical proficiency in unfamiliar platforms and determine when deeper technical, vendor, or architectural expertise is required.
  • Understand how capabilities across platforms overlap, connect, and contribute to the broader sales and marketing technology ecosystem.
  • Maintain and improve platform inventories and documentation covering platform purpose, ownership, users, licenses, dependencies, integrations, and lifecycle status.
  • Analyze platform adoption, usage, license utilization, business value, and capability overlap to identify opportunities for improvement or consolidation.
  • Contribute to recommendations to invest in, expand, consolidate, replace, or retire technology based on business value, user needs, cost, risk, and portfolio fit.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to evaluate capabilities, resolve issues, and understand product roadmaps and platform changes.

Improve data quality and operational consistency
  • Identify and address data-quality issues affecting lead management, campaign execution, seller workflows, reporting, automation, and platform usability.
  • Diagnose issues across process, data, platforms, integrations, and user behavior rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
  • Establish or improve standards for platform configuration, naming conventions, documentation, data management, and change management.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and design solutions that reduce manual effort and improve scalability.
  • Monitor whether platform and process changes produce their intended operational results and recommend follow-up improvements.
  • Help establish operational metrics that provide visibility into platform adoption, process performance, data quality, and delivery effectiveness.

Support effective platform operations
  • Provide hands-on platform administration and configuration when needed, particularly for more complex changes or issues.
  • Support the resolution of platform, workflow, campaign, data, and user-access issues that require deeper investigation.
  • Help establish scalable approaches to user provisioning, permissions, licenses, platform administration, testing, and support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or automate routine platform administration and operational processes.
  • Provide guidance and context to teammates completing recurring campaign, administration, data-quality, and platform-support activities.
  • Ensure operational work follows established security, governance, and change-management practices.

Partner with stakeholders and drive work forward
  • Build trusted relationships across Sales, Marketing, IT, Operations, Data, and other partner teams.
  • Facilitate conversations among stakeholders with different needs, priorities, and levels of technical understanding.
  • Communicate recommendations, decisions, progress, risks, and impacts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Bring structure to ambiguous requests and help stakeholders distinguish the underlying business problem from a requested technology solution.
  • Make informed recommendations and move work forward without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Surface meaningful tradeoffs and decisions to leadership with the context needed to act.
  • Participate in and help drive discovery sessions, sprint ceremonies, demonstrations, platform reviews, planning activities, and vendor conversations.
  • Take ownership from problem identification through delivery and validation, coordinating across teams as needed to achieve the intended outcome.

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of relevant experience-or an equivalent combination of experience-in sales technology, marketing technology, sales operations, marketing operations, revenue operations, digital marketing, campaign operations, product management, business analysis, business systems, or adjacent fields.
  • Experience working within sales and marketing technology and/or GTM operations, with an understanding of how technology supports sales and marketing processes.
  • Hands-on administration, configuration, or low-code delivery experience with sales, marketing, CRM, marketing automation, campaign-management, or related business platforms.

  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Adobe platforms is valuable, but expertise across the full portfolio is not required.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and develop practical proficiency across a broad application portfolio.
  • Experience leading discovery, process mapping, requirements gathering, user story development, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, testing, demonstrations, and releases.
  • Experience taking ambiguous business problems and turning them into structured, actionable work.
  • Working knowledge of sales operations, marketing operations, campaign operations, lead generation, lead management, digital marketing, or related GTM processes.
  • Ability to understand how process, data, platforms, integrations, and user behavior interact and to diagnose problems across those boundaries.
  • Ability to balance immediate operational needs with longer-term scalability, maintainability, and business value.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, paired with the ability to understand the larger workflow and intended business outcome.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across business and technical teams.
  • A self-directed, collaborative working style with sound judgment, curiosity, initiative, and comfort operating in ambiguity.

Especially helpful, but not required:
  • Experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Data 360, or Marketing Cloud Account Engagement/Pardot.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager or Adobe Workfront.
  • Experience designing or improving lead-management, campaign-management, sales, marketing, or revenue operations processes.
  • Product-management, product-owner, business-analysis, or business-systems experience.
  • Experience supporting application rationalization, platform evaluation, license management, vendor management, renewals, or contract recommendations.
  • Experience designing workflows for automation or AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Experience with data governance, platform adoption, operational metrics, or process measurement.
  • Experience in a complex, matrixed, global, or professional-services environment.
  • Relevant platform certifications.

Technology Landscape

No candidate is expected to know every platform. We value hands-on experience with relevant technologies and, just as importantly, your ability to learn unfamiliar tools quickly. The portfolio may include:
  • Salesforce Sales Cloud, Data 360, and Marketing Cloud Account Engagement/Pardot
  • Adobe Experience Manager and Workfront
  • Outreach.io, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Demandbase, and Jifflenow
  • Wistia, Canva, Sprout Social, Webex Events, AddEvent, and Figma
  • Google Analytics, Maps, reCAPTCHA, and Tag Manager; Semrush, Bitly, and Hotjar
  • CleanTalk, Hindenburg, Pa11y, Percy, BrowserStack, and OneTrust

What Success Looks Like
  • Sales and marketing workflows become simpler, more scalable, and better connected because underlying processes and technology have improved.
  • Ambiguous business needs are translated into clearly structured, appropriately sized work and delivered improvements.
  • Stakeholders receive thoughtful recommendations rather than simply having technology requests fulfilled as submitted.
  • Platform changes are designed with consideration for upstream and downstream impacts across process, data, integrations, and users.
  • Data quality, platform adoption, workflow efficiency, release predictability, and user experience improve.
  • Recurring operational work becomes more standardized, documented, and automated where appropriate.
  • The team can deploy this role across a broader portion of the sales and marketing technology portfolio as priorities evolve.
  • Platform, license, and vendor decisions are increasingly supported by clear information about usage, value, cost, risk, and capability overlap.
  • Sales, marketing, operations, and technology stakeholders view the individual as a trusted partner who can bring structure to complex problems and drive work through completion.
  • The individual independently identifies opportunities, develops recommendations, and takes ownership of meaningful improvements across the sales and marketing technology ecosystem.

Location
This is a remote role. Candidates must live within commutable distance of a Slalom office and should expect periodic in-person collaboration based on business and team needs.
