Who You'll Work With

As a Director of Data Engineering & Architecture, Market Solutions at Slalom, you will lead at the intersection of business growth, market strategy, solution innovation, client delivery, and people leadership. You will oversee and inspire a high-performing team of leaders, Data Architects, and Data Engineers while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and a key partner to sales, alliances, industry, and capability leaders. You will shape specialized data engineering and architecture offerings that address client outcomes, guide complex pursuits and engagements, and ensure Slalom's investments generate measurable value and more profitable sales.

Role Summary

This role builds a high-performance culture, turns business priorities into measurable results, and strengthens Slalom's market presence through trusted relationships with industry peers, partners, and customers. You will beaccountable for advancing the capability, shaping high-quality solutions, and achieving financial and customer outcomes.

What You'll Do

Grow the Business:
  • Set the market strategy and financial goals for Data Engineering & Architecture. Align investments, partnerships, go-to-market priorities, and workforce capacity with demand.
  • Lead outcome-based pursuits and executive client relationships. Quantify value, shape differentiatedsolutions, andidentifyresponsible growth opportunities through delivery.
  • Strengthen Slalom's market position through thought leadership, industry participation, partner relationships, and reusable sales enablement.

Lead Solutions and Delivery:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, connecting data strategy and architecture decisions to measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead solution design and technical oversight for complex cloud data platforms, pipelines, integration, and governance across Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Maintain delivery quality from discovery through launch by managing risk, resolving challenges, and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and sustainable.

Build the Capability:
  • Develop and scale market-relevant offerings, assets, and delivery patterns. Drive adoption across teams and measure their business impact.
  • Advance modern engineering practices, including AI-enabled delivery, automation, and emerging technologies, while encouraging practical experimentation.
  • Strengthen knowledge sharing and skills development across geographies, industries, and capabilities so teams can sell and deliver with consistency.


Lead People and Culture:
  • Hire, coach, and develop a diverse, high-performing team of leaders, Data Architects, and Data Engineers.
  • Manage performance, career development, succession, staffing, utilization, and skill readiness in support of current and future business needs.

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields.
  • 5+ years in technical leadership and team management roles, including responsibility for developing leaders and managing performance across a people tree.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and strong knowledge of modern cloud data platform, integration, governance, reliability, and engineering patterns.
  • Experience in consulting, client-facing delivery, complex solutioning, and sales pursuits, withdemonstratedability to connect technical strategy to business outcomes and financial value.
  • Familiarity with modern data engineering tools, languages, and paradigms such as Spark, Python,dbt, Terraform, CI/CD,DataOps, generative AI, and AI agents.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and activate go-to-market strategies, sales enablement, solution portfolios, alliances, thought leadership, and external market presence.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience setting targets, evaluating investment performance, quantifying ROI, and managing capacity,utilization, and demand.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, relationship management, facilitation, and change leadership skills across executives, clients, partners, and cross-functional teams.
  • A record of fostering inclusive, feedback-rich, high-accountability cultures that support innovation, learning, career development, and sustainable performance.


Quantitative Expectations

  • 45%+ utilization (self)
  • Personal Contribution Credit (PCC): Low - $1.5M; Target - $2.5M; High - $3.5M+.
  • Business outcome targets will be established with the leader based on the individual situation, market maturity, and market complexity.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, the targeted base salary pay ranges are below:

*Boston, New Jersey, New York City, Washington DC, White Plains:

$210,000 to $265,000

*All other locations:

$200,000 to $250,000

In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
